I'm an O/O and been driving over the road for about 6 months. I'm getting kinds tired of using my phone for a GPS. Aside from a safety issue I'm looking for a better option. Any reviews of what's working for you guys on the road. Thanks

Garmin Dezlcam. Includes trip planning, ifta tracking, nearby and upcoming rest areas and truck stops which you can customize to show on your navigation screen. Tracks your miles and even shows sunrise/sunset times.
Jazzy J, 40 ft trailing and DsquareD Thank this. -
I like Garmin products. I have a Garmin DEZL 560 that has served me well.
As a back up, I just bought an Apple iPad. That way my phone is just a phone while driving.MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -

IFTA tracking would definitely be a great option vs paper receipts and hand calculate.

The Rand McNally Truckers Atlas. Google Maps and directions from the customer. If cant reach customer use company directions. Take directions. Compare route to Atlas make sure not resteicted route or bridge height. Then google maps to make sure no other obsticles. I have used Street View to fet an idea of what signs look like.
DedicatedDriver and 3ARTransport Thank this. -
Google satellite view is great. Especially when you get a load assignment on Friday afternoon (going east across time zones) with a Monday morning delivery. You call the consignee and they are closed for the weekend. Good luck with those customer directions, you aren't getting any. Google the address and take a good look at where the truck entrance is. This has saved me many times when the address is for the front on a non truck road and the truck entrance is on the back street.SavageSam, JC1971, NavigatorWife and 2 others Thank this. -
Most places have pre recorded line with directions on them. Just got to know how to search internet to find phone numbers. Some dont though. -
I'm using a Rand McNally 530. Routing is pretty good so far, in three years, I've always wound up right where I wanted to go. You can also do logs, IFTA on it. You can program all the stuff on it, rest areas, truck stops, weigh stations. Also switches to a view of the offramps if you're taking it. A pretty good unit that's really easy to use
40 ft trailing and peterd Thank this.
