Fair. And awesome for you. But is that really the absolute minimum amount necessary? I see plenty of people come in with less that 5k and make it work because they're willing to work hard and put away for that rainy day that will certainly happen.

Only you can determine what's best for you.

My advice and remember it's MY advice.

    Do what your comfortable doing.

If you look to others for their approval and consent you'll never make a decision on your own.

You know you better than anybody.

You already know if your going to fail or succeed.

We can give our opinions and our stories but NO one on any forum can make you succeed or fail.

Success or failure is in the eyes of the person.

Now if you'll excuse me I have a speaking engagement to skip.....

I got friends who started with what was in their pockets and are now successful. You have to know what drives you. In my case I have a wife and kids depending on me so whatever I do I do my best. Like TennMan said only you know what is needed for you to be successful. Having the advice from you all is very helpful in taking this step.

Definitely a "no haul" from this point forward.

Almost out of hours, been here for over 8 hours. Told them my hours were running very low, thinking they might go ahead and get me out of here.

Nope, they said I could go take a break somewhere if I like. That set off an alarm, followed by a heated argument with the innocent 2nd shift guy. Turns out, they only had me stage my trailer to be loaded tonight sometime, and hadn't even staged the product. At least I got the truth out of this guy.

Topeka KS = no truck stops

Luckily, there is a Walmart a couple miles away that allows trucks according to the trucker path app. Beyond that, you are up a creek without a paddle in this area.

Hope this info helps anybody else who is thinking about pulling out of this place.

I will. I try to do that pretty regularly, good or bad, in hope that it provides some help along the way. All you can do is do your part to try to improve things.

Having money in the bank will help with all sorts of problems that you can't plan for.
Sure guys start with nothing and make it but there are more who don't.
Taking advances is a sure way to get behind..you're borrowing every week and that impacts your bottom line.
For some reason no one wants to save before they start something like this.
IMO it's a receipe for failure.
If you can't put money away for your business needs you will never make it..you'll always be dependant on pulling a load for whatever it pays just to make ends meet.
Don't be in hurry to pull the trigger on a lease just because it's easy..think of your family and what they may need.
Or what you yourself might need.
After all you want to make money not scratch to make a living.
