Notice how you avoided my question.
Name a place where I'll can earn a lot more than here? Someone... anyone?
    Show and me I'll leave.

You make out it's cheap here and "rates are higher other places".
Being you're about being truthful please tell us.
Then i can gtfo of here with these pos trailers and go earn all this money that's supposedly out there elsewhere.

2.10 was their average for that quarter. Some did better, some did worse. Obviously, the area you run would be much better.

1.97 is 65% of what Schneider getting. In most cases, running the same lanes, you should be able to beat what Schneider is getting, even if only by a little.

But, let's say you would get only what Schneider is getting. With the numbers you posted, you are leaving 115k on the table in revenue, not 15k. That is going with your rate, that transitions to 3.03/mile Schneider is getting, at 2100 miles per week.

@PoleCrusher said he's averaging $1.95 to the truck.

If he averaged $2.10 to the truck that's an extra $15,000 in revenue for the year (at 100000 miles) without factoring in trailer costs.

I dont see how you're figuring an extra $115000.
I'll sign up for an extra $115000 a year lol.

Btw we dont know what "Schenider gets" because they broker loads to themselves lol.

I know i could do better.
Take landstar for example the advantage that stands out to me there is working with agents, building solid relationships and just dealing with a few good agents and not relying solely on a load board. I know someone that was in orientation with me who took his truck to LS in December and is doing stepdeck, he says he loves it. I know stepdeck will be higher than van rates anyway but the POTENTIAL to do better there is probably more hopeful than the rates here lately.

With that said, im content here, sure there are problems and hassles like anywhere, and maybe i could do way better elsewhere but im comfortable here. I pretty much run the same lane, same customers, and im happy with that. If im not making the money weekly i need to make this worth it, i would have been gone. Im always looking for something better but even when i find something that looks and sounds good it doesn't mean it will be a good fit for me. I have only been here 1 full year this month and im still learning something new everyday. No company will be one size fits all but for my personal situation im very happy here.

One reason rates have probably gone down for Schneider in particular is the market they're in is getting undercut left and right.

How many places are there where swift has undercut sni? I know swift took over Sears and Kmart in manteno, il. It was a mass exodus of Schneider trailers off that lot. And swift pays their lease ops peanuts, not to mention their company drivers.

Also, I drive by mopar/Chrysler in streetsboro oh. There were also good light loads out of Pontiac.and really good paying ones out of Toledo. There was always a ton of trailers in that place. Now when I looked it's swift trailers as far as the eye can see.

Apparently to compete with swift they're either going to have to cut rates to peanuts or find other freight elsewhere.

Yeah..but swift won't have them long..as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for...when they have damaged goods from wrecks and late loads the customers will be screaming...I've seen it too many times..

I've yet to see proof of that, in fact my Landstar friend quit a few months ago from rates being soo low and barely any loads.
As you know you're dealing with agents who keep however much of the rate they want before you get your percentage. Lots of spot market and agents having their own trucks.
Mercer you're renting a trailer which you have to factor in, also means no more drop and hooks.

Anyways calling all Landstar and Mercer drivers... i am averaging $1.70s all miles to the truck (some weeks a little more) 2300-2800 miles a week.
If any of you drivers are averaging a lot more, prove it and you got yourself a referral.

I've found the only way i could do better is getting into flatbed.
However the hassle aint worth the money for me.
Landstar having agents with their own trucks, lots of spot market, paying for tolls... etc etc. Not good, espacially not that freight is down, contact freight is very important to have access to.
I've found Mercer drivers do better than Landstar. It's looking like Landstarve over there at the moment.

Flatbed yeah its still good there for that, Van sucks from drivers I've talked to.
I am all over these fourms and speak to drivers everywhere. The day someone can prove to be there's big money elsewhere I'm out of here buddy! So far i only see crap or similar rates... not worth leaving.
