your right... I don't trust shipper scales either since they rarely have them certified..
Truckers do not get paid for most, but it is part of the business .
its time the dot make the shippers have scales on their properties

I don't know about you guys but those unpaid miles suck, especially if the company tries to charge back the fuel. $1.00 a mile charge back vs. earning $.36 a mile- you do the math on that one. Smh

How long till we all have to have these?

It would be better to spend a few thousand dollars to fit your Rig or have your company install load sensors on the suspension system so you will know your axle, gross and wheel weight at any time in your cab.
I realize that the thought of installing legal scales at every shipper is impractical and too cumbersome. But it is to your benefit to have the truck itself detect and monitor your axle and gross weight. It monitors everything else anyhow. A few more senors will save you a bunch of money down the road. -

the FMSCSA should be lobbied on behalf of truckers that scale pay should be a mandated pay of at least 1/2 hour of hourly rate. Since you are a) on-duty and b) working to keep the motor vehicle in compliance.

I ran 1,000 miles 500 pounds over gross and scaled in almost every coop last week. No problems.
