I never said the trailer was company owned, regardless who owns the trailer, his company would be responsible for damages, my comment was, he is on company property and they can choose not to report the incident, or to report

A none functioning door is not disabling damage. This is not a DOT Reportable accident. It is however a preventable accident that could be on a DAC.

    O
I checked definitions on dot recordables from there website ok I know they list accidents and incidents on your dac but it specifically says dot recordable on my dac they dot sent me fmca number to call so I'm going to call them cause a dot recordable is very serious and I move alot of trailers a year damaging one door can happen easy to put this on your record in the same classification as a roll over or fatality.then it lists no details on my dac for the dot recordable it was actually a Sharkey trailer it wasn't ours.but thanks for the advice people.

Thanks you for the input cause only one door was damaged and I wouldn't classify it as disabling damage that would have needed a tow if they towed it it was only to replace a door not because the trailer was un driveable.

I agree with you it is an incident or accident but not dot recordable.
