Being in the military is never a waste of time. I think that everyone should serve. It teaches you way more than just a trade. GOD bless all of our troops. If the military had boards like this where you could talk about the conditions that you go through in the military no one would join. The conditions are harsh, the hours are extremely long. No one can work you as hard and long as Uncle Sam can.

Way to just insult everybody that served/is serving in the military. It's easy to be a keyboard tough guy, isn't it? See you on the Big Road :biggrin_25525:

I never said I did work for them, and I never said anybody was wrong. I am simply curious why the OP (not you) has the opportunity to work for more reputable companies, then doen't.

Yeah, sure did. Was married too, didn't work. Great, you're smarter than me. You're even smart enough to man a cash register in a truck stop though. Oh, looks like you're out of house blend, would you mind?

I am comfortable basing my opinion on the multiple accounts I have gotten from people.

    That is a good joke.

Good for them. There are happy people at England too, doesn't mean it's a good company.

Sounds like a personal problem. Ghosts from the pasts haunting you?

Swift does have a lot of trucks. Yes, they do need more driver. It's tough keeping up with that turnover rate.

It seems everybody has friends that are cops. That's what I did in the military. It's a great job. No, not just guarding a gate. I've done it all: domestics, DUI, gang enforcement (housing was rampant with the buggers). Just didn't care to continue to deal with those people.

I'm awake, and I keep seeing those moves.

Lets get back on topic. If you want to make this a gripe about our military, you will lose it. If it was WWII when our freedom was actually in jeopardy, sure, i would have been more than eager to join. Now we are just the 'world police', and all we do is make everyone mad at the US, why does most of the world hate us??

So that is all i am going to say about anything NOT related to the reason i started this thread. Tell me, what is the difference between tearing down a company when you've never worked for them, and trying to play 'flip side of the coin' with someone who is going to work for them?? oh yeah...one has NEVER worked for them, and one IS. I am done arguing back and forth with someone who seems like they just want to cause trouble. You've stated your 2 cents worth, and BE DONE WITH IT. Want to keep bashing companies you dont like, you had better join wonder-twin forces with TimTruck, cause you would sure like him.

Oh...and once again, 'open moutn insert foot' moment for you. First of all, I was going down to the truck stop to try to run into a Swift driver or other drivers willing to offer their opinion, and not mind a stranger sitting at the counter in the diner asking questions. Figure i was going down there so often, why not just get a job at a truck stop till I leave for Swift. 2nd...i work at a casino full time dealing cards, making $20/hr. I JUST DEAL CARDS. How much easier of a job can you get. Guess what, if someone was unemployed, any job would look rather nice, wouldn't you say?? Smarter than you? hardly, it is plain as day you are much smarter seeing how you already know it all.

Never have said you work for swift? You may not have, but you came off sounding like you had some sort of 'negitive' history with them to even bother posting here. This is a thread for people to share information who are going to swift. You dont like em? post in the board that talks about companies you dont like, and leave those here who are GOING, frickin' ALONE. Didn't know they accepted 12 year olds into the military.

and one last thing i will say to you in this board, and no further posts from you will be read.......wherever you work, if it has a reputation for being good or bad.....it all comes down to what that driver wants to get out of it, and what s/he makes of it. Yes?? Schneider sounds like a great company too, but guess what, i am willing to bet there are drivers there who will say it sucks. Whether you like a company or not, and then base it off of others opinion to form your own, does not show much originality. You get out exactly what you put in. It is all how OPEN MINDED one is, to allow yourself to take into consideration others opinions, gather all available information, then make your own opinion. Not listen only to those negitive opinions, and then block out all those with 'good ones', like they dont exist. good luck....say 'hi' to your future ex-wife for me. ;-)

Snow: I worked for Swift. In my opinion if you go to Swift. Go to the Flatbed side. Its a little bit extra work but the miles are way better and they will deadhead you more often rather than having you sit. I tried Swift vans and sat way to much to be happy. Went to flats and I was running 13k+ a month paid. The thing Swift has going for it that others do not is that after a while you can be a trainer and get paid all the miles that your trainee makes as well. My trainer was making 80K a year. Thats #### good money. Best of luck to you.

THANK YOU for that info. At the truck stop I work at I actually saw a swift flatbed roll thru. I wonder, in training they start you out working with vans, but in class you just tell them you'd prefer flatbeds? That isnt a bad idea, being a trainer. However, i don't think a driver who has only 6-12 months OTR experience can really be a trainer. Besides, unless they were taught well in training, the chances are twice as high to have an avoidable accident. But hey....$80k a year....cant argue with that.

When you start out you may have to go out with a van driver for 4 weeks. This is just because there are not a lot of flats in Swift. You could get lucky and do flats the whole 6 weeks. Swift will let you be a trainer if you have no problems and 6 months of solo. Whether or not you or I believe that someone with that much experience should train, it is still available as is the money that comes with it.

WHAT!!!:biggrin_2551: Stop watching the network news. Your mind is going soft. If you're are scared, say you're scared. Don't make excuses for not standing up with your fellow Americans to defend your country. This enemy we are fighting would cut your throat if they could get the chance. Nothing about being a "World Policeman". Our freedom IS in jeapardy. Enough with this ignorant left-wing cowardice talk.

Like you said, Let's get back to the topic.

Snowman&fred I am a bit confused here. You have just signed on the board in July and seem to have 207 posts as I type this. I have had you on my ignore list for a couple of week now as you were popping up everwhere with advice and argument on most any subject. I just opened up your post on this thread to see if it has changed since your exchanges with Tim. This is a quote from you.

you even considering a career in trucking?? i notice you are just a "4-wheeler". wonder how much weight your opinion has? think you can figure it out.

Now let me get this straight. Don't you work behind a fuel counter in a truckstop? Aren't you registered for school at Swift and are waiting on a list to be called to school?
Where do you get off with that comment to that poster about how much weight his opinion has? Where does your opinion gain so much creditability?
I know you are excited about your new company as you gave us in another quote"

if you cannot read, ill make it a bit easier for you........I AM GOING TO SWIFT BECAUSE THEY WILL GET ME A CDL. THEY WILL GET ME EXPERIENCE IN A YEAR, WHERE AFTERWARDS, I CAN GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, AND MAKE 10-15cpm MILE MORE THAN WHAT I WOULD MAKE THERE AFTER A YEAR

and you want to protect it and don't want to hear people poor mouthing them.
If you are getting ready to go off to school start now by practicing to listen to what others say. Settle down now and wait for that phone to ring, although I hope you haven't let them know what your screen name is. Because you are worth way more to as a recruiter than a driver and that phone may never ring.

To read your scripts one would swear you have thirty years on the road behind you.
I could go on with this but I am sure that I should have just put you back on my ignore list and moved on.
I am sorry to all posters for my digression.

Ladies and Gentlemen, turning this into an insult contest is highly frowned up. Please, keep to the topic, and refrain from trying to see how much you can "push the line" with not-quite name calling.
