But then again there is more to a company than pay.

Apply to several companies and take the best offer and the best equipment.
The companies I listed have very nice equipment. Not sure what Danny Herman has in their trucks though. I just know they do long runs and no Northeast.

    We
Well that's the first I've heard of that. And it seems like to get the really high CPM you're sacrificing comfort which I think is equally important. It just seems like all that other guy was doing was talking about how bad leasing is which I never asked about and advertising for Trimac which is not helping since they mostly do tanks which I'm not interested in and because their otr options aren't that good which he admitted himself. I don't want 50 cents a mile with little to no miles or an uncomfortable truck. I'll take 38 with comfortable trucks or more miles or something.

CPM means nothing without mileage which is my problem where Im at and all Im hearing about is that. I just asked about mileage. I looked up Averitt. I'll have to call in the morning about their CPM because I dont see it on the website but do they really wear those dumb uniforms?

I'm not pushing the lease . I pointed out that they will force you into one . Based on what the others have said in the bigger Trans Am thread . That's why I spoke to the lease . I'm just another experienced driver among the others in this thread who try to give some real world advice when it comes to certain segments of trucking . I've been at it 23 years . Everything from over dimension to van to reefers to tanks including hydrogen , one of the most dangerous commodities you can legally transport . My take is you have no bills , you just want to roll in a nice ride and make 5 bills a week . Cool . All these general freight companies haul for the same customer . Read the recently posted Swift crash thread . 1 in 10 Swift drivers are involved in a wreck . 4400 plus citations in two years . It's bad out here . Yes , they will just put any driver in that seat with 80,000 pounds and pay them dirt because , like insurance company metrics , the numbers come out in their favor . You can't measure life by the dollar . I respect that you just want to earn your stripes yet... Believe it or not some of us do care about pay for profit . Because for every driver that thinks like you the freight rates for us that own keep dropping . If you're gonna settle for dirt then why pay me to take the same load ,? It's a plan 30 plus years in the making to squeeze out the independents . What you decide to settle for does affect me

    Peace

What person has no bills? You're always going to have something--phone bill, credit card bill, whatever. Yes I have bills and I want to make decent money. But I don't care about money so much that I will sacrifice comfort for thousands a week. And that's all you seemed to push. Also, you never contributed anything to my original comment or anything after that so I was confused on what you were trying to say. You seemed to be going off in some other direction.

But thank you for whatever you were trying to say. Have a blessed day and for CHrist's sake, drive safe!

I work for Trimac, I make .65 cpm and I get plenty of miles. Your impression of trucking is not complete. You don't give up options for CPM, or you don't have to. I drive a Cascadia standard sleeper, frig, inverter and I can idle all I want. Point is, I believe you are selling yourself short. You should aim high and if you hit low then oh well, least you tried.

I'd definitely put Trimac at the top of the list. You need tanker/hazmat endorsements and maybe TWIC; ethos can answer that.

The OP doesn't want tanks. To each their own, as you well know China, I'll never drive anything but.
