Oh ok. Well then it's too short! Lol.

I can throw the 102 back on and fix that.
slim6596 and Evvy Thomas Thank this. -
Let me ask this. If you already have decent ground on the antenna, does it hurt anything to add a dipole to the setup? Is it strictly one or the other?

See my "hey Mike" thread...

A true dipole would be isolated from chassis ground. If you had an excellent ground and you were to add the upside down element while it is still grounded to the truck it would serve no purpose and performance would not be hindered. So the dipole situation is only out of desperation due to bad grounding on trucks. I drove a Peterbilt 387 and the entire body was made out of fiberglass or plastic and that was one particular vehicle that required me to use dipoles to get it to function properly. I tried mounting Co phased dipoles on a Kenworth W900 on the rear fairings which are made out of aluminum and I was unable to get it to work very well because of all the metal in the truck body.

Once I had my setup finished, a couple of weeks later, when I had some time, I had a tech who removed the drivers side antenna (The one that comes stock on the bird perch) after I told him I was disappointed with the limitations my recv and trans. He replaced it with a nubby, re-checked both my SWR and antenna and off I went. Definitely made a difference. Stationary? 21 miles to another town while in Pittsburgh (non skip) Mobile? 7 miles open road, moderate squelch and no problems in clarity.
Tried it up in NY with another driver who had just gotten seated in a new cascadia with the antenna hidden in the roof and asked to do some checks as we went on down I-90. 3 miles max....... -
I've been in 2 cascadia's and couldn't even get the AM stereo to tune in to a ginormous (50k watt) station over 30 miles. I think its drivers using the factory mounts, that is the problem. JMO
