I know bud, I appreciated you putting that out there (recruiters), as I don't really know the trade per say, you letting me know to be wary of 'promises', will help me to hopefully not get bamboozled.

At 18, you will not be able to travel outside your state you are licensed in, so OTR will be out for you regardless

He's not 18. He has worked for the DOT for 18 years. (I thought the same thing at first)

You will not get anything about a specific run guaranteed in writing from any trucking company. Period.

    Adirondack46r Thanks this.

The mega starter companies may not do that but when I went to orientation at my current job I did have a paper with a job offer on it that basically said what fleet I was to be assigned to, and that I was being offered the job at x amount if money, and that the job offer would not be rescinded unless I failed or failed to complete orientation, the drive test, drug test, and physical. I don't see why other companies might not choose to do the same with specific routes.

    Adirondack46r Thanks this.

They guaranteed you would only run that particular run and nothing else ever..in writing? I would love to see that. Very interesting.
