Loading in all weather conditions, figuring out how to load all your vehicles to be under 13'6" and under 80k lbs, loading all your cars and realizing you accomplished neither lol, getting comfortable backing cars on and off the truck, etc......

Hey what's up. I see your post was a month or so back so you probably already made a decision, but I have been working for just over a year at United Road Detroit. I grossed 75,000 my first year and I take 12-14 hour breaks every night and home the full weekend on most weekends. However, by Ohio I assume you mean Marysville? I would stay away. This company operates like the USA. Every terminal is different just like states, but then there is corporate in Romulus, MI which is like the Federal government. Marysville drivers are about the lowest paid in the company because the freight doesn't pay anything. It's mostly Hondas there. Most guys I know from Detroit make over 100,000/yr and are home most weekends. Marysville has a good shop, but terrible dispatch. I avoid that place like the plague. If you want real money, hire into Marysville to get your feet wet, then transfer to Detroit if you can and drive for either Lou or Becky if you can. The best money currently is running Canada and East coast. We pick up Ford Edges in Canada and take them to Jersey. You need a fastpass and twic card in Detroit. As far as Marysville, don't think you need either one, but I may be wrong. Marysville is a good place to learn the trade though, because you will do alot of 10 civic loads, as well as Pilots and vans. So you'll figure out how to get defferent size vehicles on ur truck. One major difference is Marysville drivers seem to go into the terminal and get dispatched in person where as I have seen my dispatchers in person like maybe 3 times in a year. Marysville is all about making Honda happy. Detroit is all about making money. Hope that helps. Good luck! I'll never pull a box again.

talked to many people, experienced many things myself, NY-CA runs, door to door deliveries, auctions

I will tell you one thing unless you have some new car permanent contract the best place to make money is Coast to Coast runs for private customers. In summer it is definitely money maker, in Winter you gotta find new car hauler.

Yeah right. How many hours and miles do you waste picking up and dropping off?

I used to mess with that, but when I calculated actual odometer miles from all that bouncing around and figure my time in there. I'll take auction to dealer/dealer to dealer anyday. I'll grab a POV every now and then but it needs to add close to $1 a mile for the headache for sure. Because I know when I call delivery contact chances are I'm going to hear "Can you meet me after work I get home at 6"?

URS can eat a dick. There killing our industry.

I feel sorry for anyone who use to make a living hauling for Carmax. Hell I feel for anyone doing the hard work on the own. The rates are plumiting. We all need to stand together.

My thought is that drivers just need to refuse to move them. And when the companies listing these loads start feeling the pressure were under daily the rates will change. It won't be overnight, and it'll be a constant game but it's our only option at this point. We have the power to effect positive change in OUR industry.

I have been preaching this for a while now. My minimum is 50¢/mi per unit(unit being a car, not f150, Nissan Armada etc) and I don't break that for anyone especially not pita, late paying United Road
