Gonna need new steers soon

    When I had my FLD I got better wear and life out of 16 ply tires on the steer. You may want to think about that too. Also, Michelin xza3+ is all I'll run on the steer.

    I have had several sets of the Michelin XZA tires.....always wear great and lasted a long time.
    We always went with the regional tread...stronger side walls and I think they were the 16 ply...

    Also you may want to think of new front shocks when you get new steers if you do not know how old the shocks are.
    My last company always replaced front shocks when it got new steer rubber.

    kinda ashamed to say it but he still on parole, his felony was from a having a weapon in a commercial truck while in DC. Yeah they screwed him big time,, he spend 1yr in federal prison for that,, the ####y part was the rifle was supposed to be a gift to me... he bought it from a gun shop in texas had it laying on his top bunk in open veiw..

    already got new shocks and everything is very tight.. i think one of my tires is bad or something

    If you're still gonna be running the same route I got a guy I use for alignments. Best I ever met, does 3 axle alignments, has a machine to modify camber of steer axles n everything. Best of the best.

    I have a 2005 Columbia and had the same problem. The 1st year and a half I went through 2 sets of steers. Last March I put on 2 new Michelin XZA3 tires. I get an alignment every 6 months (good for flatbedding) and have gotten the advice to replace shocks every year. While there is still some vibration at times (though very little) the odd wear patterns and vibration at speed have disappeared.

    Ok im looking at those xza3 tires,, thanks guys,, this really gonna tick off my boyfriend,, hehe cause im not even gonna use the shop he works at.

    Take pictures of the tires and post them. I have xza 3 steers currently that are cutting and need replaced I was happy with them overall but they're not cheap.

    Dunlop makes a good steer I'm happy with dunlop tires we've had good luck with them same goes for general and BFG in fact we got 160k out of a set of St 240s or st 244s whatever the steer is.

    It's all in how they're taken care of alignment done once a year replace shocks every 80k and take care of things and steers will last. The only onces I didn't care for were the kumo steers cheap junk far as I was concerned.

    We run centramatic balancers as they're cheaper than spin balancing and I don't like paying 30 a tire for mount and dismount so I do them myself which saves a little money. I can tell you an xza 3 steer on the advantage program is over 500/tire just for the tire in any size.

    Its all good, i honestly can put 2k a week to the side for my truck after everything else is paid and i take my own 1000 a week check home.. thanks this is great info... im off to bed up in 4hrs for a run to night

    Our trucks came new with Michelins, and some of them wore funny, or had vibration or shimmying.

    What we found on the steers and possibly the drives, wads that the tires had never seated properly, which was probably due to not enough lube being used when the beads were seated. You could see they weren't quite right from the concentric rings on the tire around the wheel not being quite the same distance all of the way around the tire.

    Good tire shops will lube the bead liberally, from what I have seen.

    We don't run beads or balancers and alignments are as needed when tire wear indicates it. The 2nd set was wearing great until I had a puncture in the drivers side tire, and the 3rd set is wearing about the same as the 2nd set did with no abnormal appearance.
