Do you have company assisted health insurance?
What is the cpm for an L/P-O/O?
Do you pay layover and/or detention pay for L/P, O/O's? If so, how much?
If not, would I have to sit and wait for loads?
If I tell you I am ONLY a west-coast driver, will I be sent to the East coast?

I believe that's a statement in and of itself.
simplyred1962 Thanks this. -
Many of these company's don't want you if they think you might stick up for yourself and cause them to actually do their jobs to support you. They just want hard up drivers that will go from point A to point B and not worry about what happens before ,after or in between. Ronnie Dowdy has been described to me to be a company like this from at least 2 of their former drivers.
But at least they were up front and did not try to give you a snow job to get you into a truck. Many company's will advertise detention, layover breakdown pay etc... and then after you get hired, you find out they only pay this stuff if they feel like it. Heck some even get compensated by the shipper/rec/broker and keep your money.simplyred1962 Thanks this. -
The way I see it is, they simply can't grant you those requests. C'mon people! How hard is that to figure out? For a company such as Dowdy, those are ridiculous requests!! No national truckload company is gonna conform to that.
So, I guess it's a matter of finding someone that will or make your requirements a bit more realistic. -
Aint that the truth!
Companies want to be able to take every advantage of their drivers and mistreat them. Heaven forbid a driver wants to be treated with respect.simplyred1962 Thanks this. -

That pretty much sums up my point lonesome..

They certainly wouldn't get one second more of my attention if they could not, or would not, answer any if those simple questions.

Your financial obligation would be as follows ---
35% of your weekly payments will be set aside for mechanical problems your truck will encounter.
50% of your weekly settlement will be applied to the lease of a semi-worn out Big truck.
10% of your weekly settlement will be applied to insurance to protect the company.
And the remainder will be earmarked for you, the lease operator.
And most of our drivers find they need it on a regular basis, --- especially the assisted mental related problems that will pop up frequently.
All you pay is the first $200 of any office visit. Should treatment be required, it caps out at $250 per ailment.
We advertise $2.95 per mile for lease operators, before deductions, --- which usually comes out to be around 25 cents per mile in your pocket after the assorted hidden charges.
Every good company does, and we're no different in that regard.
However, please note our unique definition of the words "layover" and "detention".
"How much"?
All depends, as we have the industry's only sliding scale which changes according to how we feel at the time.
We only require our lease operators to "sit and wait" for loads they've been assigned to.
(Except for those occasions when a lease operator abandons their truck and another lease operator is forced to pick up the slack caused by others.)
That's what we'll tell you --- if that's what you want to hear.
But even if you prefer to run ALL 48 states, our lease operators only see NYC, Chicago, and such, 90 to 100 times a year. Hardly often enough to be concerned about.
AND, as an added bonus, we don't mess with ANY tolls incurred by our lease operators. That's entirely up to the drivers if they want to spend their hard earned money to run the toll roads. (Although, in the interest of time conservation, we encourage them to use the quicker toll roads as that's how our lease drivers are dispatched. The bottom line is it's your choice because you're the captain of the Big truck that we own, IF and until you pay off the lease)
And, as you might imagine, late deliveries will cause your pay to be docked, but never more than 80%.
Guarantee the lease operators ANYthing they want to hear,
and transfer the responsibility of getting where they want to be to them, the lazy lease driver.
Please consider this an open invitation to join our group of fleased drivers. We're anxious to have you join the always diminishing ranks of lease operators.
And, don't worry about finding it necessary to continue to ask a multitude of questions.
Just trust us.
Your's truly
(But not sincerely)
RICHie (+$+) the Head Honcho.

This post is in jest and reflects no company I'm aware of.
Then again, it might just be an accurate reflection of MANY Big truck truckin' companies.
Ya never know.

That is truly funny. Thanks for the laugh. With your wit, can you apply any of that to OTR companies looking for company drivers? Just looking for a little relief. Thanks again.
