How far out do you normally drive from your home terminal?

I've been as far away as 1200 miles from home but like I said they will route you back home for your fifth day.

Keep in mind though that you are not guaranteed a Monday to Friday schedule because when the bids come around, start days for extra board are bid on like any other run.

You might be able to get home during the middle of the week, but you still soon learn that it's not always a good thing. If I get home during the middle of the week, I'll be ###### if I'm gonna drag my ### out of my own bed twice in one week.

How long does it take to get hired on ? I had a phone interview 2 weeks ago it went well, she said she would give my info to the terminal manager and he would get back to me. I got no response so I called the TM he asked me to call back in a couple days, which I did but only got VM, so I called next day still VM, no return calls. I may stop in there tomorrow ,as I'm going for an interview with a competitor in the same city. LTL that's my goal.

Depends on a few things, the most important factor is freight levels and right now most companies are struggling to give every driver 2000 miles a week.

Also depending on how big the terminal you're applying to is, I wouldn't come in and demand to speak to a terminal manager because most likely you will be seen as a nuisance and be given the run around.

Just keep applying and be patient, when it picks back up they will be begging you to come work for them.

Okay , I've got an interview tomorrow with Estes, this will be my first LTL gig if I land it. Do you think I ought to dress prepared for a road test or dress up a bit ? I just got a call from a private carrier for refrigerated perishables as well. The private carrier starts @ .43 tops @ .48, home weekly, better than average benefits. Seems like Estes would be better, any opinions? I'd like to be home every Sunday at least but can work around it. Thank you for any help, I really need a job as I quit last job thinking I had one lined up later to find offer was written in sand and not concrete. I went to YRC yesterday and everything went great they were sure friendly but I'd have to run team, I didn't turn anything down ,sure would like to make a decision this week

I believe .67 CPM top eate

Houston city drivers make well over $20 hr. $28 maybe. Been away too long. Used to see Houston twice a week.

Everyone starts at same rate and tips out after three years.

Don't dress up just don't look like a bum off the street. Estes is old school they care more about people that can get the job done. I kinda doubt they would give you a road test that fast anyway.

Yea pretty much lol, you wanna be presentable but don't dress like you're interviewing to run the company.

Normal long sleeve dress shirt with clean jeans and leather dress shoes should do, I mean you're doing an interview for a driving job not to be the CEO.

I swear man, some people over think the hell out of these interviews. Just present yourself as an ambitious person with plans for the future like retirement, home ownership, etc because that will show that you are in it for the long haul and that you can see the big picture.
