My Granddad and Dad have had trucks all my life. I don't remember my first load but I was driving trucks local at 15 years old.
I do remember my local high school needed lumber from the local sawmill to build a homecoming parade float, when I was a senior. I turned a lot of heads when I rolled up to school in a old IH truck pulling a 40' flat with a load of lumber.
It was the early '90s and things were a lot different back then. The local cops never would bother you unless you were doing something really stupid and even then the punishment wasn't much. Nowadays if I let my 15 year old drive a truck, they would put him under the jail, probably arrest me and his Mother too, and take the rest of our kids away.BiH Thanks this. -
I had a whole years training with my uncle in his flatbed...learning everything from A to Z , had a lot of crazy loads but can't wait to get a load of my own, should be fun

I don't really count my oilfield experience anymore. My first otr flatbed load was cotton outta Lubbock. I had watched a few videos on tarping but still didn't really have a clue. There was a nice peterbilt next to me the night before and ended up being in front of me at the co op. I got to talkin to him in the shed they let us tarp in and he ends up helping me tarp my whole load with a bunch of pointers along the way.
A month or so ago I had a load of chain link that had to be tarped. Stuck over both ends by about a foot and winds were whipping probably close to 35 mph with no where to hide. The btc driver behind me ended up helping me tarp and even gave me his cheater tarp when I said I was going to have to top the trailer to run out and get a cheap tarp.
The other day when I was getting my paperwork I sent my brother over to help another driver pin his tarps down. The brother hood is still as alive as we keep it.macavoy, BiH, johndeere4020 and 1 other person Thank this.
