Hard to say who owns what now , all the dairy products in the Omaha market used to come from Wells dairy in la Mars ia , Anderson ericson in des Moines and Roberts dairy in Omaha and they all have new names now .

Actually when I think about it I think Wells sold the milk division to Dean foods and kept the ice cream division aka blue bunny ...still in la Mars ia .

For the heck of it, here is Smiths Dairy of Orville, Ohio founded in 1909 by two brothers who borrowed $300.00 to start the dairy they got a couple buggy's and horses and stuff for $300.00 back then.
Anyhow Smiths does a couple grocery stores and Convenient Foods Marts in Lorain county and C-Stores and Gas Stations I don't know all of what they do further down south near Orville,Ohio they supply Giant Eagle with Ruggles Ice Cream and I think even might do the Cleveland Indian's well I think they did do the Indian's. Piere's Ice Cream which is a local ice cream maker here in Cleveland might do the Indians now.

Anyhow this is there drop warehouse/yard in Elyria, Ohio.

Smiths trucks have like a freezer compartment hence the side door so ice cream comes out the side and see there is a little lift gate that comes out the side as well and stows underneath. There trucks are pretty cool and pretty heavy duty the door actually slides and see there's a lift gate and the milk comes out the back on the lift gate, you still have to use a two wheeler and dairy man hook though.

Oh by the way at the end of the day what is the result of all this fluid milk production you may ask? Well I'll show you, this is some macaroni and cheese I got the recipe off of Smith's Dairy website and used there milk to make it:

When was that? We had a Wells Dairy plan, aka Blue Bunny here in St. George for several years. They shut it down, oh heck I'd guess it was between 2007 and 2010.
I was not very keen on their ice cream. What I saw of the plant, was NOT very well maintained.

Il be danged don I knew they had a plant out there but didn't know they closed it , but then I'm not up to date as I got outa the reefer biz Jan 1st...probably my imagination but I think dairy products were better when they were locally owned .

Yeah I would agree with that about the diary industry going down the tubes stuff probably was better when it was locally owned. Didn't Blue Bunny have the big listeria outbreak?
