Typically with these new engines, all higher RPM does is burn fuel and make noise because the torque is at lower RPM.Lone Ranger 13 Thanks this. -

13 speed is great for these mountains, I hated 10 speed in West Virginia! Though I still hate West Virginia lol
drvrtech77 and RootHog Thank this. -
So you are saying when you order one in a glider today, they are setting the governor and recommending 1200/1900? -
the Series 60 I have now (Fitzgerald built), Detroit says the torque band is between 1200-1400. Not high, but a bit higher than the newest engines. According to my dyno test, I reach max torque between 1425 and 1450rpm, that is putting right at 1550 torque to the rear wheels. Torque drops below 1500 above 1550rpm and will hold the torque at 1500 down to 1275rpm..
Top horsepower is reached at 1665rpm (486 to the wheels), but torque drops down to 1465 at that rpm.
now I'm dizzy from reading and posting all those numbers, LOL.Lone Ranger 13, Cledus Snow and Home_on_wheels Thank this. -
