They'll be obsolete within the next decade. Hell, Hardees is replacing cashiers for computers. The average person already has a phone. I pay fifty bucks a month for my unlimited tmo line. It's something I'd have regardless of whether I was driving a truck or a corporate lawyer. If most drivers would familiarize themselves with what's readily available, and what they're likely already paying for, they could replace an atlas for something that does 100x more, 100x quicker.

My broader point is that technology is taking over regardless. You can ignore it, pretend it doesn't exist, or try to keep up. I know people close to me on both ends of the spectrum. My grandfather had no interest in texting, or technology. Years have gone by and he can barely work his tv. On the other hand, my grandmother made it a point to keep up, and now she's busy Photoshopping family pictures, pasting me in a picture if I miss a holiday. My dad feels like the world passed him by whereas my grandmother feels involved. A lot of drivers insist in the "old school" age of trucking as the only way. It would benefit a lot of drivers if they'd go out of their way to keep up with basic technology.

I'm no computer genius. I've just found ways to incorporate technology into my job, and downtime and its mase my life a hell of a lot easier.

I don't think any of us wants to be the guy standing at a coke machine, not knowing how to put diet coke in our cups. At the pace the world is moving, it can easily happen.

I have a lot of things to be proud of, but wouldn't list an American Express as one. I sense some jealousy. Let me guess... You have bad credit?

I could give you my AMEX to hold, you could buy a 2k tv, and a two minute call to American express would have it taken off my bill. It's why using credit cards on the road are better than debit/cash.

Plus... If I lost my phone, it can't be used. Would take someone chopping my finger off to process a charge.

There's just no winning with this guy. He refuses to use proven tools at his disposal. I give up, I'm done.

I found one on Amazon for $17. Laminated and spiraled.

A horse and buggy was a proven tool until the car was invented. There's a more efficient tool now available that does more.

Why would I give up a more efficient tool for something that I've never needed to begin with?

No it won't be ok until you make money. All the names of the states are not the same, all the routes on the laminated map to the paper are totally different. The laminated map will take you more direct as the paper one may get you lost.

Ha Ha Ha.. You are right, I do have bad credit. I have none. I buy stuff with my money that I have not what I am going to have in the future.

Jealousy, not in your wildest dreams. Pity maybe but definitely not jealousy. Why in the world would I be jealous of someone that owes money to someone else? That's funny.

They don't have to steal your phone all they need is your info. Any computer can be hacked eventually.

Are there any low (under 13-6 ) clearances or truck restrictions on Hwy 14 in Nebraska?
