You are missing my point. There is nothing wrong with technology. I embrace it. Also, your analogy to a horse and buggy is way off. It would be difficult for the average person to maintain a car and a horse & buggy.

I have a cordless screwdriver and a set of regular screwdrivers. The set doesn't take any effort to have in my tool box. Same thing with an atlas, IT'S CHEAP!!! and it doesn't take any effort to keep one onboard.

Again, I love my gadgets and use them daily. Technology is good. I'm totally with you on getting along with new ways to do things with smart phones, etc. But I would not advise anyone to be without a $20 tool that takes no power or internet connection to use.

I'd have to agree with at least just keeping on in the truck. Awhile back before smart phones were standard with GPS. We took a gps with us to Chicago. We were looking for a theatre downtown and the big buildings there actually messed the signal up and the gps was useless. First time in Chicago and had no idea where we were. Obviously it's a little different situation but man I wish I would of had some sort of back up for that time. Would of helped a lot.

I don't live paycheck to paycheck, so not charging what I don't have. I prefer not traveling with large amounts of cash, or using a debit card which is a direct link to my checking/savings accounts. CCs are the safest alternative.

Any fraudulent charge is taken off your bill with a two minute phone call. Its what makes credit cards safe verse debit cards/cash. If you pay your bill in full, you pay no interest. In fact, they pay you to use their card. This quarter I'm using discover mostly because in getting 5% back on every purchase at restaurants. Last year got back 350 bucks on one card. Get free insurance with car rentals. Free checked luggage when flying. Still think you're a little jealous... Only a jealous person would describe a credit card at something someone is proud of.

Besides, if you ever plan on buying a house, truck or any other large purchase it helps to have good credit. It'll save you thousands in interest.
