Did anyone here went through training with Cpress Truck Lines in Jacksonville, FL? If yes, I was wondering if you get to go home at the end of every week during training or do you stay there for the duration of your training? The reason I am asking is I want to know if I should drive there (three hours away from home) or just hop on the greyhound. Driving is more economical if I get to come home on weekends vs paying the greyhound each time. Thanks.

I almost went with this company. They were heavily involved in our school at National Training Inc in green cove springs. If they are training you to get a CDL (classroom and tests) you will be home most likely on weekends or they would offer you to get a hotel. If you have your CDL already and you're on the road with a trainer I'd plan on staying up there. Chances are you will not be off on time during the weekend and will be back earlier than you though. Jax has some cheap hotels too.

I didn't go with them because the recruiter was sketchy and I didn't take initiative to repeatedly call them back to see if I was hired. I recently found out though they did do a dac report check so not sure if it was a mix up was or what but either way things worked out better than I hoped for my first year out.

Thank you for responding. I am guessing that Cypress Truck lines are not too popular around here (this forum). I also have a job offer from a local beer distributor. Interview is tomorrow *5/4* i am more or less leaning towards regional rather than local.

Went through training with them and currently work here. You can stay or go home while in training. The accommodations are junk. Pretty much a closet with a bed and a desk. They don't pay for your meals or anything till you pass and go to orientation. Rick is the trainer there and he's pretty cool. He'll help you all he can but be forewarned if you just can't get the hang of it even after him helping as much as he can he will send you home. If you've done any drugs don't waste your time. They do hair follicle and they'll send you home and make sure you don't get a job driving a truck. I'm home Egbert weekend with no orblems. Miles are good haven't had any problems getting loads. Be prepared to haul a lot of Sheetrock. That's our main commodity we haul and also be prepared to deal with these tarps. They're heavy as hell because of the material they're made of and they're big because we sometimes haul tall loads that require tarps. You won't get a new truck till after at least a year of being with them. And by new I mean like 2010 and up trucks. The newest you'll get is 2007 and that's because they're paid for and if you should mess it up then it's not a big deal. Overall they're not bad but if you can go through a school and THEN come here I'd highly recommend it.

Nancy is new to recruiting I believe. She's kinda weird about stuff I didn't really like dealing with her a lot. She's kinda bi-polar with her moods.
