None of them have cell capacity, which is required for a live feed.

Here's something else to think about. It's a proven fact that this industry is short of drivers. So much so that company's have to hire on some people that shouldn't have a regular licenses let alone a CDL. You want me to believe that company's are putting in these cameras to catch and fire good drivers from their company. By just trying to find things by looking in on them randomly because safety doesn't have anything else better to do?
Like i tell me Wife, with thoughts like these, no wonder every person out there thinks all truckers are stupid. It's amazes me some of you can even get out of bed some mornings.
Maybe you should do your homework and find out how these things work before you open up your mouth again and look even more stupid than you already have.
it quoted you UPNORTHWPG but thats not intended for you.

I didn't say I believed it, but that it was more believable.

What would be more believable, is that drivers who have had people call and complain about them, who have had one or two minor incidents - not insignificant, but not worthy of firing - get looked in on from time to time.

I haven't personally been in a truck with a driver-facing camera, but I've been on both sides of the desk in trucking. A decade behind the wheel and a million miles don't make me the be-all end-all of trucking, but I do think it qualifies me to know feces from footwear polish of the Shinola brand.

And if it's connected to a Qualcomm or PeopleNet system, it has data capability. Probably not fast enough for a live feed, but definitely enough to send a few minutes of video in daily. How do you think the 12 seconds of video gets sent to corporate in the event of a trigger? Do they have SD cards in them that can be destroyed in a crash (or after a crash, if the driver knows he messed up)? Does a safety representative have to show up physically to hook up to the camera and download the footage? I would be amazed if that's the case.

I drove a truck that had those for a while. A light would come on when they were watching. I always waved. They got to hear lots of bad singing to the radio & the occasional cussing someone out. lol

Funny I do the same thing I've been called into the office 3 times 4 camera once doing 62 and a 55 ,once for wearing my earbuds listening to music, and once for slamming on my breaks when I forgot I had an empty box in the back and setting the camera off. Not once did they write me up or fire me for any kind of nonsense like that. When the cameras were first installed in the trucks I used to drive across the truck yard bobtailing and slamming the brake on just to set the camera off 5 or 6 times. Yeah I got talk to about that they did not think that was very funny.

Personally, I think it's a bunch of crap that the company can turn on the camera and see inside the cab anytime they want. But I doubt the corporatist government will ever back us peons.

JC1971 they can not, i repeat, they can not turn on the camera any time they want and watch you. Stop listening to the tin foil hat club and do the research for yourself.

Lol... Your company can only see the same clips you can.

Every one gets issued a web account that allows you to view every clip recorded.

If there is an issue recorded. The THIRD PARTY video company sends it to the safety contact, who then decides whether or not to send it to your DM for coaching/training.

It's been about a year with mine.
I've had to listen to a few stupid conversations.

Other than that.... I've pretty much forgotten about it. I have not even logged in to view my vids in months.

Why have a few people posted that their safety department has contacted them abut drinking coffee or doing something else while driving?

It goes off any time you hit some thing.... Potholes, speed bumps, etc.

So even though there was no real event... There are still lots to random BS that causes a vid to upload.

Don't get caught doing something unsafe.

I stopped caring about any of it 6 months ago. I drink my drinks, dip my snuff, eat my dinner/breakfast.

    Never heard anything about it.

Coming back from OK... 35 south thru north Texas... Constant construction bumps set this camera off. Heavy stupid traffic. I get to hear about not having the '8 second ' following distance.

Stupid conversation from idiots that have never driven. I could bring the truck to a stop, set breaks, and they will still not find '8 second ' space...

But that has been the worst of having the camera... Stupid training conversations like that.
