I had three really bad expieriences after I graduated from driving school with carriers. Now I'm alittle gun shy, but want to try again.
Does anyone have any information on May Trucking, wheather its Good, Bad, or Ugly... I would really appreciate it.
Thanks, Northwest Newbie

I assume this is the same May Trucking that is based in Idaho? They have black rides with gold/yellow lettering.
If this is that outfit, I'd avoid them. I say that because this company used to advertise in the Salt Lake Tribune newspaper every day of the world when I lived there. You don't wanna work for ANY company that needs to do that to keep its trucks on the road. The May I'm talking about is a reefer outfit, which helps to explain why they need an ad in the paper begging for drivers 364 days a year.
Check the SL Tribune help-wanted ads today. Perhaps a miracle happened at May, and now they manage to keep a driver they hire on today longer than just a few months. I'm betting it's the same ol' May, though. If you see their ad in that help-wanted section, scratch 'em off your list.
I think Interstate is a pretty good outfit up your way. Check into 'em. They're a dry-box company, I THINK.
Good luck. -
I am going to go to the local collage for schooling , and was wondering if anybody had any information , the good, bad or ugly about May Trucking, their Payette Idaho terminal in particular. They have a good website and look like they pay well. Do they keep drivers busy? Are they a good outfit? Thanks in advance. DS

May trucking is a moving company as well as other types of freight, I know a few O/O's that pull for them and make a killing. I give the thumbs up from a hearsay standpoint.

I have been driving on the west coast for some time and going back for some time May trucking has pretty close to the same rep as Swift or JB...
The Payette Idaho terminal had been shut down for quite some time for the lack of drivers and had not been more then a fuel stop for the trucks..
At one time the turn over rate for May would make Swift look like a stable company... -
I recant my previous statement, I was thinking of mayflower sorry.
-
Their web site claims "Payette now operates nearly 200 tractors for our transcontinential refrigerated fleet", I guess I should drive up and check it out.
-
Note the words in bold...Nearly could mean anything from 0ne and 200...
Does it say anything about how many drivers? -
Good point.
Do you have any good alternatives that pay good, take on trainee's and are close enough to Boise to make getting home on day's off reasonable? -
There is a company that has a terminal just east of you not too far that has a fairly good rep, I think it is whatkin-shepard (sp?) but cannot swear that is the name of the company...
