I was seriously debating if this belongs into new drivers questions or here, but I think, since I am hearing so many horror stories about truckign companies, this question belongs here.
Which trucking place in Dallas TX area should, in your opinion, a brand new guy with no CDL or trucking experience to his name go.
Stevens? (most likely not, judging by million page thread made by it huh)
Schneider? (these people promised me that I will alway be working and not sitting idel with no pay and they will cover some of my tuition, plus they're the biggest trucking co, according to them anyway)
England? ( I really like the fact that they paid the most per week to a brand new trucker)
TransAm? (Didn't go there and know nothing about them)
Other co
Dallas crew, please answer v. still considering several trucking co

Read up, you can find better companies than the ones listed.

This is a Library of Congress of a trucking forum, I can't be told to find a needle in a hay stack. Plus, I noticed you're not from Dallas area? -
What works for one person might not work for the next. What is important to you? Hometime, benefits, pay, tuition reimbursement, fancy truck, type of load (dry, flat, reefer), rider policy, pet policy, etc. Figure out what your main requirements are and go from there.
What is your background like? DUI's, arrests, job history? Those can limit your choices as well.
Look over at the good companies section. You have been a member for awhile, you can tell the one-time poster vs. someone around here who has something valid to say. Check out the bad companies section. True, many companies will be listed in both sections. Actually read what people complain about. If someone is complaining that they can't bring their dog with them and you don't have a dog, well maybe you can skip that complainer. Look at the companies that have hundreds of people saying negative things, and only one or two people saying positive things.
And a lot of it just boils down to luck, and your own attitude.
doubledragon5, Baack and WiseOne Thank this. -
And don't just limit yourself to a company that is based in Dallas. Many different companies will hire out of the Dallas area.

Why not oil field work? Home everyday and the pay is twice what you could earn OTR as a new driver.

Two things: quality school and a load to carry. -

For instance, I drive for May Trucking. They're based in Brooks, OR (Just outside of Salem) - but I live just outside of Denver.
