George Ledin teaches students how to write viruses, and it makes computer-security software firms sick.

When I first seen the title I expected something bad but this is what they need to be teaching to educated people.. The more you know about it the more you can identify and defend.. The hackers of yesterday are the software developers of today.. That's how it goes..

Antivirus programs are basically a joke nowadays.. They really only defend against the basic viruses, Trojans ext.. Anymore they update after the fact... Anyways there is a new technology that is going to replace Antivirus altogether.. this technology is based on whitelists and is very interesting..

If I find the artical I will post it...

It is based on the fact that hackers tend to keep on doing it, requires source reputations be kept, and those malevolent sites will be blocked or at least generate warnings, some of those sites are already marked as bad on the search engines under the disclaimer"This site may be harmful to your computer."

I know of a college that hackers and want-a-be hackers get together once a month to share ways to hack from a to z.

There are websites where hackers can share information and often set up meetings. Just be careful going to their website.

Just being curious I went to a site and my virus protection almost shut down my computer. I went to a community computer and loked at some of their information. Too bad for that coffee house :biggrin_2555:

I hope they are only doing that to boards they own/control or get permission from the boards to test the security.

Those who own and administrate private boards and forums (like this forum) do NOT appreciate the headaches and paying for the bandwidth.
