He's one of those scientific type. Like a flatbedder, LTL and a power only driver rolled into1. Say for example, hes hauling a mini excavator, a daycab and a 53 ft van trailer. Cluck would have work booked up for the escavator, the daycab, loads booked on the van trailer, and still make his deliveries on time.

"But Six, how can you fit all of that on 1 stepdeck?"

I didn't say everything fit on his stepdeck. A power only guy will get paid to move a trailer across the country. He may book a load for the trailer while he has it. Cluck would book work for machines, find work for the daycab, and the trailer...and juggle all three until they reach their destination. His thinking was wayyyyyy outside the box.

This forum is like Jerusalem after Jesus passed through town.

@Hurst It's not bad now. They had me 1500 lbs over on the trailer axles. 45 minutes north to a scale. Scale. Talk to dispatch. 45 minutes south to shipper. Take 2 trees off. Retighten loose straps. Redo tarps. Roll 45 minutes back north and get the heck out of Jersey and Delaware.

It was like being in Texas. Awesome crew of Mexicans worked there. I felt like I was in McAllen Texas, not Greenwich NJ.

    Hmm. Interesting concept.
Think I need to borrow the old mans rgn. Sorry Mr broker, the brand new $200,000 John Deere tractor is still held up at the border. It might be another week of waiting is what they are telling me now. ;)

And all these #### dirt trucks keep flying by getting the tractor filthy! Gonna need a comcheck for another $200 to deliver it clean...

Some days I think technology is getting out of control but it is pretty cool when my JD tractor is acting up and throwing codes I can call my dealer and he can pull up the tractor data in real time and know exactly what's going on. Can send a software update over air of if it needs hard parts the service tech can know what he needs the first trip.
Of course you have to pay more money for all these service's and if everything wasn't so loaded with electronics we wouldn't hardly need service techs

Finally got an opportunity last night to take a picture of a steel load (usually too many trucks around, and I try to avoid taking pictures in our yard). Rather light (55,000 ish) but waited forever (about 3.5 hours) for a 30 minute load. Glad I'm paid by the hour.

Also very glad tarping for this customer only lasts between October 1 and March 31. It was 8:00pm by the time I got out of there.

P.S. Please ignore the bent fairing on the sleeper. Apparently it's been like that for over 3 years (found out recently from another driver who started in this truck and it was like that when he got it) and it hasn't been worth it for the company to fix (I just want them taken off, much prefer the look of the short bunk without them).
