Most of the verizion ones are already pretty well paid. I delivered to a couple of their facilities before and talked with some of the workers. They make better than the average drive does by what these guys claimed.
Landline service is dying anyway this will only help verizion in the end.

I was referring to the current strike that has been going on for the last month with no one budging. The more I read the more it sounds like they will bust the union

It all depends who you haul for and what you do. I started 22 years old at Central Refrigerated 0 experience, otr 48, at least 2 weeks out 2 days off. .28 cent a mile running from 2000 to 3000 miles a week live load live unload 90% of the time average 600 a week. To now 25 years old 2 years and 8 months experience later o/o running between 1000 to 1200 miles a week 97% drop and hook home every night to my kids. Choice of off on Saturday or not and off every Sunday bring home after fuel 1600 1700. Could I do better yes could I run harder and stay out nights for a couple 100 more yes but is what I do for 1600 to 1700 a week a very good wage and more then the average hell yes.

Don't like the pay and treatment? ...I don't eaither ! So let's all go home and park the the trucks ..I'll gladly park mine ...only when drivers and oos grow a collective set of balls will things change ...so called industry leaders have done nothing but pay lip service to the plight of the driver and oo for the 30 years I've been doing this .

I say that I haven't had a raise in thirty years.......

Rates suck , amount of work sucks worse and expenses are out of site.

But many on this site think $1.30 a mile is a good rate :(

Let me know when your going to park it. I'm company and will not, I have a family of 4 too feed every day. If I stopped my company's truck, they'll just hire someone else. Companies will always win in the game.

I don't have millions in a bank account to wait out something I don't know a time frame on.

This industry is huge, compared to what it was 30 years ago. When a strike or nationwide shutdown would make a difference.

What did that convoy on DC do for the diesel prices a decade or so ago? I was still in school at that point. Remember it on the news, don't know the outcome. I personally never felt any reprocussions from it.

I personally think we need all of America to band together if we want to make a change in any and all industries. Industry workers by themselves will never get the point out or make anyone feel the pain and appreciate them.

Not when if Campbell's soup shuts down, China or Mexico will pick up the slack.

    Are you following?

Oh yes I agree with what you say and totally understand your position but the fact is until drivers as a whole quit aceppting minimum wage and lousy treatment ..the status quo will continue .

The way things are going , soon you won't feed a family driving a truck .

Strike isn't the answer....standing up to the corporations would be a start.

That's the biggest step in my opinion. But anyone these days, they just go with flow. Why else would ####ty companies still be in business.

Knowledge is also a big part, most lack the ability to understand they are just getting by and their 400 dollar check is the bizznitch. And nobody really wants to put the work forth. For what they would ask. We'll still be poor come Friday.

    Well ..... Don't work for ####.

I grew up working as a farm hand on a dairy farm for a good five years. I pitchforked a ton if not more of manure twice a day and still had better working conditions than a lot of these drivers today.
