PA is the same requirement.
300' from the rear
500' oncoming to dim high beams.
Volvo Halogen low beams are utterly worthless. That's why so many run high beams on the old style.....you can't see without doing it.
The new LED headlights are way way way better design. You pretty much never need high beams anymore, the lows work awesome!

The old style headlights do just fine if you have them adjusted properly

Well, on my old Volvo, I would agree regarding really poor lighting. the lenses were coated on the inside and scratched on the outside. So, I polished them. Took me all day. In the end, It made a big difference, But, I took it 2 steps further. I purchased new lenses, dealer has a trade in for the scratched ones, and I changed the bulb to a better/brighter bulb. Solved my problem. I still think the best lights I had for dark roads was on a KW t660. HIDs. Super bright and had no problems with seeing at night. Always got flashed, but, it's what came with the truck. I was parked next to a Volvo with LEDs and I could not tell the difference between my lights and his. I actually thought my lights were brighter because I had more white light then the blue lights. But, the LEDs seem to have a wider light pattern.

The major design flaw in the Volvo Halogen lights is the reflector inside the projector housing above the bulb on the inside of the unit.
The silver reflective surface burns off with the heat from the bulb until there is nothing left and lighting is about 25-40% of what it was when New.
Terrible design !! -
I'd just like to know why the old round style headlights are suddenly, after how many decades of use, deemed not sufficient?
