Are you saying you cannot run under your own authority?

No, I can run under my own authority - if someone will insure me. The inquires about insurance for a start up have not gotten any positive results - YET :msmile:

This may not be the answer you want to hear but...... Progressive will insure you for 1 year max haul range of 500mi since you are in FL after a year your good to go. You could run inter-modal for that year or take a gig like the one I was offered, power-only hauling bread regional. Like myself it may not be the best gig going but it puts you back in the drivers seat. PM me or post here if you need more info on what I have learned.

    Markvfl Thanks this.

I started 1 month ago, First time o/o. I bought a used T600 and did a lease purchase on a new flat.
First month not to shabby. I have been running hard and I have stayed leagle. As far as doom and gloom, I feel it is what you make of it. Is it easy? Hell no! Do I like it? Hell yes! I leased on with some one that treats me good and does not get in my way. Every thing that they have done for me has helped me. For me right now I think it was the best thing that I could have done for my family.
I am still learning, that will not ever stop. I was a company driver for over 30 years. Now I am kicking my own butt for not doing it sooner. I love being able to call my own shots. I know that my mistakes cost me dearly, I try not to make any. When I bought my tractor I looked for a long time. I bought a used fleet truck and put $5000.00 in it before I put it to work. I think that has paid off. It is not the nicest truck on the road and it did not have everything I wanted but it is a good start.
    I'm happy so far.

Thanks for the info, you're right - its not what I want to do, but as you said it may be a start, still looking for the 48 state option

If you decide to go the 500mi progressive route let me know. You can use my address as a base operation and extend your travel area. I'm about 180mi north of you. Shhh! :biggrin_25525:

    Markvfl Thanks this.

somtimes there is more money in the local gigs and not as many headaches
I have two daycabs that are local gross on runs about 27k a month and it comes home every day
I also have two OTR trucks and they do fine as well but somethings like getting them fixed in the middle of the night in KS is a pita
