they're being told by a cop. And one company now has their drivers hanging oversized banners because a cop in Nevada ticketing one driver. Loads are under the 10 foot rear overhang requirements. Utah will ticket for seeing those on. Nevada will ticket not having on. One nevada cop has a hardon. The majority of us havent had a problem and only roll with flags and lights on the rear. Nothing more.Oxbow Thanks this.

There are knobs on both sides of the coin. In the loading bay at Manitowoc Crane I had a guy from Anderson who claimed "He has been pulling oversize since before I was born" tell me I couldn't use chains on my counterweight because "It is going to scratch the paint and cause a claim". I told him "I can stand here and hit this Mother$^&*((& with a hammer like I am beating a drum and Manitowoc isn't going to say anything to me because this is my counterweight".Dye Guardian, Chewy352, macavoy and 4 others Thank this. -
Wonder who that wonder for them was
I've chained counter weights before even with Ats...TripleSix Thanks this. -
I went through the same thing at the Terex factory one day, I scratched the outrigger box on a new 120 ton picker, the shipping supervisor came out to "document" it in case of a claim. I said who the heck is going to file the claim? He said All crane will when they see the machine, I said "did you read the freaken door of my truck"? He just stared.Dye Guardian, tsavory, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this.

Look, you can't just say 'it was hit by a train' and then continue on without the rest of the story. That's just rude!spyder7723, Chewy352, 4mer trucker and 5 others Thank this.

I work for ATS and I use chains on counter weights. The only policy we have, that I know of, is 'straps on booms, padded, over dunnage, never in between', when dealing with Manitowoc. There are "tools" in every industry and every company.Kujo Thanks this.

When we use to haul for Bigge Crane, chains on counterweights were standard even if they were brand new from the port in Galveston.
