I had two live loads and live unloads. Both were D/Hs. C/S would have to be more accurate. Don't see that happening.
New IC contract. What do you think?

I think it would be set up more as power only. Still do d/h, still get the same percentage. Different dot #, different permits, different payment clearing house so y'all are very clearly the OTHER and not "one of us".
IMO 1099 "IC" drivers are going the way of the dodo. Over the next decade employment rulings are going to make reputable companies why away from that business model. ICe will all need their OWN authority, arrange all their OWN permits, insurance, etc. Then you would be truly independent. As it stands now most "IC".drivers are really employees with a different pay system. -
If I need to have my own authority, ins and permits then I would be an "authorized carrier" right? That means I would not be leased to Schneider any more and would be able to get authorized to haul for other carriers. I suppose the rates would reflect that. (not the 65%a) Just a thought. At that point I might also be better off getting a trailer as well.

Im good with it if I own the trailer...but I want detention after 2 hours at 80 bucks an hour. If they have no bathroom well then I need more....I would love not messing with some of there trailers..Im currently hooked to a Dick Schneider original going 2000 plus miles

Captain DaveOpus, redoctober83, Home_on_wheels and 1 other person Thank this. -
Honestly, I wouldn't mind buying my own trailer and having my own authority. I'll bet SNI would help you set it up too. If you think of it, the successful lessors have been schooled by SNI on how to properly and profitably run a 1 man trucking business, so no worries here.
I'd like a nice trailer with my name on the side......jus' sayin'CaptainDaveG and TennMan Thank this. -

When I left the Gary oc Monday and had them remove the qualcomm the tech was telling me I was the 20th ic that day he removed the qualcomm for. He has been seeing on average 10-20 ICs a day leaving from Gary.
Now what gets me is I see schnieder posting freight on the dat load board and the rate they post it for is usually double what the same load was going for on the choice board.
For those of I thinking about going it your own, I'll tell you from what I've seen in this first week, it'll be a bumpy path for the next 3-6 months. There are a lot of brokers that won't work with you until your authority had been active 90-180 days. I had broker yesterday tell be 2 years before I could pull any of his freight. I just laughed at him and hung up.
Just make sure you have the money to help you through the startup process and once your authority goes active, the first 45 days before you see your first paycheck.Home_on_wheels and driverdriver Thank this.
