He goes to Chuy's restraunt, which was a longer walk away...
I took a reset there and met a lot of great travelers and learned a lot

Only side loaded when in villages and dealing with curbs and sidewalks. and when we did side load I set the trailer on the ground and a block under the edge of the deck in front of the wheels, to try and minimize the twisting of the deck when your coming on and have all the weight on the side. It was a rare occurrence, really does torque the deck pretty good when you come on, even when done gracefully. Anyway, That's the way I was taught, and told only at last resort, by the original operator of that trailer, I was the second operator of it, it's third operator started pulling it around 2006 and is still pulling it today. That trailer is a 1972 and lives in the northeast! Yes it's had some welding done to it but nothing too major. I have seen trailers less than 10 yrs old that aren't worth fixing!

But I'm not a "Good Trucker" Never seen that grader, or been to Texas!:(

In 38 years on a lowbed I bet I've only side loaded 10 times. Most of those were putting a Cat 323 roller on in between 2 other pieces on my Murray as they are 8' long and 32" wide?? Nothing bigger than a D-4 & only when I could not jack knife into a spot, and like Petey said, drop trailer & block the rail. I used to hear years ago of a guy that spun D-8s on his Cozad & backed them off over the side.

I dont side load but some of these pipeline companies do it all the time. Even have huge steel plates welded over their floors to spin them easier.

Anybody care to hazard a guess if the bent jack handle, and the holes punched upwards through my upper deck, have anything to do with each other? image.jpg

The #### hired help was just trying to make it fit. Too lazy to get out and move the jack... LOL

I am guessing that the jack handle was down but the jack was not secured in the bed of the truck and rolled back pushing the handle up and probably on a corner taking off from an intersection.

I wish I had hired help to blame....All the idiot owner. Ha! The crap you learn as you go through life. Someone on here has a signature "you only gain experience by making poor decisions". It's very apt.
