E-mail just came through. I was charged for that room. That shouldn't be right as I was told to go there. I would have stayed in the lounge at the yard rather than pay for a room i was only in for 9 hours.
Man I hate complications that require office staff to sort out![]()

You are new so it's ok to question everything. Hell, even if you are not new it's ok too... lol -
I hear ya just feel a bit like bambi sometimes. Im still not even clear if I should be asking for loads or patiently waiting to be assigned one when sitting at Richmond
MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -
I think that is one area where our training program drops the ball... I never once actually talked to a FM or Load Planner during the whole three months that I was in the training program... That and running "team" is different than running solo... I learned a number of things "after" the training was actually over.
As to the "asking for a load"... Go Ask!
Being proactive will show that you are willing and expect to be running when you are available to drive.
And, you might just get a load that would have gone to someone else... Because they asked first.
You, as the Driver of your Truck, are responsible for your truck... All aspects... Not just the downsides... It takes two sides to keep the wheels rolling... We need to be available and fit to run when called upon but they need to be able to help us by finding loads when we are available and fit to drive.
I do not want to sit around all day waiting for a load and then eight hours later finally get a load requiring 11 hours of driving... I might not be fit to drive towards the end...
On the other hand, I don't want to be napping all day thinking I will get a load and need to run through the night... Only to find out nothing comes until morning... So now I am all jacked up...
So, when you are fit and ready to drive, go and respectfully ask for a load...
Don't be shy to ask to work.
Stay Safe,
MDRedtwin, Lonesome, 4mer trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
If that last post sounded confrontational it wasn't intended to be... It's teamwork between dispatcher and driver... Both should respect the other and things will flow better for all.
KD5AXG Thanks this. -
Day 35. A day off can't come quick enough. A load from Pasadena, Tx to Rural Retreat, Va went from a good run to a late delivery, just to get another run from Wytheville to Richmond that was due at 6 am this am.
Phone died. Trying to rescue charge it now. I must be the Black Sheep of Abilene. LOL -
