This is funny because this just happen to me today.

I was on a state route and a kid around 8 years old or so gave the fist and the arm pull down for the air horn so I blew the horn, as I look in the mirror to see the kid I see the father had stopped, turned around and looked at my truck like what the hell is that mad man doing...

And yes, I always blow the horn when asked by a kid, and that includes every school bus that I pass or get passed by.

I got passed on the interstate by a truck whose driver had his little girl sitting on his lap, letting her think she was driving the thing. It's the little things that make the kids' days. If he hadn't passed me so quick (due to my slow truck), I would've liked to try to get her to honk the horn. :)

I have no problem sounding off for kids. The only time I don't is when traffic is heavy. If I'm setting, and there are kids around I'll let them pull the cord. That really puts a smile on their face.

I usually gave the kids a short blast to, there again, not in heavy traffic. My favorite place for using the air horn is going past golf courses and driving ranges! Learned this from the second trainer (I had to fire the first one!) I had years ago. You wouldn't believe how many times you can be shown you're number one! I always use to signal for a blast when I was a kid too, so it was always cool to return the favor.
