I know they post it in the details, but from one load to the next there is not ryhme or reason. It's like "jimmy" in the office is using a dart board to figure out the fsc rates on the loads. My point was that sni really doesn't post the fsc because it's so different with each load. If sni is as transparent as they tried to tell us in orientation then why not post the weekly or monthly or whatever the frequency it is they change it, why dn't they post it?

You are confusing independents that broker a load from landstar and owner operators leased to them. Two entirely different things.

Also I'm not debating if some of their agents do little more than just get a bunch of brokered loads. Every company had good agents and bad, heck here at mercer we got an agent who 90 percent of their freight is brokered from bnsf logistics. But again, it is entirely different than an agent having a load and brokering it to his other company who then puts it on a landstar or mercer truck.

Schneider logistics gets the freight takes a cut and gives ( brokers it ) to Schneider national. Then we get 65% of what's left

Along with sfitrucks Schneider makes a killing. Yes they are all separate companies for legal and tax reasons, but it's still all schneider money .
They just can't keep it in the same pocket

you know, honestly, at the end of the day it's about what makes you money.
We are each, individually, one guy going up against the power, negotiation skills / clout, and money of multi billion dollar companies. While we try to figure out if $1.80 on a 45k load going over West Virginia verses $1.60 on 20K going across Illinois is better, they're working on that same question on 100 or 1000 loads. And they are doing it with a support staff, computer models, and daily / weekly freight projections and trends.
My point is this; it is and always will be an ugly, ugly Conga Line of arse rape where the players change positions in the back.......Pilot screws SNI, SNI screws Goodyear, Goodyear screws Pilot......and on and on. The positions in the back change frequently, (this week Pilot is screwing SNI, next week the positions change) except for the driver, he is and always be at the front of the Conga Line and he's always gonna get screwed by somebody.
That said, there is and always will be money to be made in the freight business........if you follow one single, simple business model; get up every day and do your best.
The corporations will always have the upper hand over the individual........always been that way, always gonna be that way. However, the individual will always have the opportunity to shine, because, were that not true, no one would do it.
I am winning, and I know there are a bunch of other people who are as well. Personally, I don't give two sheets what Schneider, Landstar, their brokers, the fuel companies, the tire companies, or the truck manufacturers make; I'm focused on what I make. And as long as I stay focused on that, I believe I will continue to be successful.

get up every day and do your best........and you will win.

If you ever get in really tight with a customer , you might want to ask what the rate is . Just for fun....

And I don't care what those other corporations make , but I do care how much they're screwing me.

why? How does that make you happier? It is what it is. Like it? Fine. Don't like it? Also fine. How does either drop to your bottom line or make you feel better about yourself?
The point is, it's not what they have to offer, it's what makes you happy. Kinda like life...........

The reason it's different is because customers can buy ''blocks'' of a fuel surcharge at different rates.
It locks in the price so customers can try to forecast what the FSC might be..others go by the Federal/SNI rate.
I called about it over 18 months ago and was given this explanation.

which is another way of saying, there is no set FSC.......it's as different from one customer to another as rates are

The way I've been feeling of late, I need to reread this post daily. I'm still doing what I want and need to do. I don't enjoy it as much due to the general state of society, but still....it ain't as bad as I can make it out to be.
