Im an O/O leased to a Mega...you can make money just fine with elogs. Anyone thinking different should give back there cwll phones and look for a pay phone. Give back the GPS and Google Maps..and use the paper map...which I have and havent opened once in 2 plus years....elogs is the safest and best.

I think the biggest problem is that most drivers don't know how the laws really read. If they took the time to read and understand them and the HOS they would not fear them so much. I can live with the laws, but I don't work for 90 cents a mile either.

Look, the rule is full of holes and may even be delayed.

Trucks 1999 and older are exempt

The owner/dispatcher can still edit driving time. The software must "keep a record" of edits, but there is nothing to stop an owner operator from editing the edit file so it looks like no edits occured.

In short, the rule only affects those who play by the rules, i.e. folks who did not need an elog in the first place...

Because of the wide variation in "interpretations" built into the current EOBR's, which are different than the ELD's, the FMCSA at this moment cannot even tell the manufacturer's how to program ELD's. Our company has already tried to purchase them and has been told they won't be available until the FMCSA makes decisions on the dozens of interpretations out there. And that involves changing HOS regulations.
I can't wait to see how it turns out...

I'm with you, Dune-T. Some people don't mind being controlled and led around like a slave. They are called sheeple.
Since there are many ways to cheat an eld, what good will their implementation do ? What will be the fmcsa's next step ?

Perhaps, elogs are just there to help ensure that those crunch times cannot be met, thus eliminating the need for as many otr trucks as possible. So then anything over 600-700 miles gets put on a train. ./shrug

No O/O on this site has ever gone over his 11, 14, or 70 for even a second. :biggrin_25525::biggrin_2559:

OOIDA is going to the Supreme Court with it. Maybe if Trump gets in, he can have some say.

Because he is an hour drive away from home and his 70 just ran out.
Would you suggest he sits in the truck for 34 hours, being only 1 hour away from home?

    CJndaTruck Thanks this.
