I agree with Hurst. I'm not much of a napper myself, but I've worked with guys before that can't sleep more than 3 or 4 hours in a stretch, but they need a nap or two throughout the day. They end up with plenty of sleep, but can't always log it the way they do it. So they fudge it, and it works out fine. If they were forced to log it exactly as they did it, they would end up driving sleepy.

And I've already explained before how these E-logs are not gonna work in the oilfield. Frac jobs are too unpredictable, and you can't park on location or on the dirt road when the well goes down and you have to unload after your 14 is up. Once empty, you have to get to a place you can shut her down. Sometimes it's a mile, sometimes it's 20.

If something doesn't change, there's gonna be a lot of log violations by sand haulers.

I would log off duty and use PC. Done it many times,.. and often much more than just 1 hour from home.

PC isn't supposed to be used for long distance driving to extend your day. I wouldn't want to be the one involved in an accident driving well after my 14 on PC.

Customers, and my ability to provide them with a service that can't be provided by someone with an electronic baby sitter are a staple of my business.

I don't give two ####s what some idiot politician, who's fed obscene amounts of money from some special interest group writes into law.

I know my limits, and will not for any amount of money try to push myself beyond them. You like your elogs, great. Make sure you always wear your seatbelt, never speed, and always come to a complete stop at a stop sign, or break any other law.

When they want to start putting micro chips under your skin like some vets do with dogs, so they can keep track of you, or get you back home in case you get lost, I don't wanna hear any #####ing about it.

If you are logging off duty,.. then you are not extending anything. Its exactly that,.. Line 1: OFF DUTY. PC is exactly that,.. no different than jumping in your personal vehicle for the ride home. I own this truck,.. I've written off duty from Atlanta to Tampa,.. I've gone so far as to write in PC from Nj back to Fla.

The difference between me and you is that lets say we start our driving day the same. By the time we finished the same 14 hours,.. I've already slept 4 - 6 hours. I have no issues logging off duty and driving my truck under PC for how ever long I need.

You mean chipped trucks? My carrier has pre pass. I refuse carry it. Or I pass? Or the readers on the highways that scan your licence plate? Or the credit card trail? We probly pass 1000 cameras everyday.

I have a tablet with my logs on it. It is editable. I try very hard to follow all the rules. Shippers, receivers and brokers could not care any less.

I'm at an 8 am crane apointment in nowhere KS on a Friday at 11:30 and no crane in site. My (and the other 5 drivers) hours don't mean squat to anyone involved.
