I got a load, but not before I had wittered away 6 hours of my 14. No biggie, it picks up in Wytheville and delivers in Jax on Monday morning so I have plenty of time. I just made it back to Wytheville with what I had left for today so at least I am back in civilization.

I won't be so patient next time as even if I had gotten the same load I could have squeezed in a reset.

Time to start chucking your belongings out the window, you don't really need a mattress on your bunk do you?.

At least you won't have any 20MPH hills to deal with. I took Gatorade to OH yesterday and was climbing so slow I was able to set the cruise, hop in the back and get a drink out the fridge.

Yea, my poor KW is so choked, it struggles uphill with any weight above 20k. Not good advertising for the company when all the trucks you recently passed come screaming past you on an uphill.

Odd. Seems stupid to make you move trucks just for being off. So, if you go on vacation and are off for 10-14 days, you lose your truck?! Don't think so.

I just did an out west trip. Had to ask for it, of course. Have the hubby riding with me (remind me why I married him? LOL!) and he wanted to see the other side of the country. Really would've liked to be able to get to Montana and Washington, but didn't work out.

Left the house on the 25th with a load out of Newport News to Fort Campbell. Had to swap out because, like KD5AXG, I got one that should've been picked up the day before. Guess what? My FM, who told me there would be a swap, didn't arrange one. Nor did he say a word to anyone about it. But, with my persistence, got it swapped and babysat a load for a guy headed to Dallas. Next was a pick up at the W. Memphis yard for Reno with major time to get there. Then picked up in Reno (huge bags of cane sugar) and headed to Salt Lake City. Got that off...and sat. An hour went by. Nothing. Pestered them on the QC. My FM never answers the phone, nor did anyone else. 24 hours later...after telling them I wanted layover pay, and my fm saying,"yeah, it doesn't pay to run out west, too many dead areas for freight", I finally got a dead head move...to San Bernadino. 643 miles. Yeah. Couldn't have given that to me sooner? #######! That's when we stopped for the night in Hesperia and had such a wonderful dinner. Kind of made up for it.

Currently on a load out of San Bernadino to chambersburg pa. With an extra day on it too. Geez. Here's my peeve in all of this. If you know an area is a hard area to get freight out of, why would you send a driver in there without a plan to get back out? I get that the planners here are reactive, not proactive, but ####. I've done the job myself and would not send a driver somewhere to deliver without a plan already in place and a backup plan as well. Just my 2 cents on that. Otherwise, the weather has been great and my hubby got to see the west coast mountains and finally believes me that they are bigger than any on the east coast.

I thought it was just me! The 16 Volvo I have doesn't climb worth a crap either!

This guy in 1487 (Freightliner) came flying by me on I-40 in TX today. On flat land, with my foot to the floor at 68 mph. Had to have been doing 73-75. WTH??? Guess he doesn't have that issue!
