Easy to remove and replace. Yes it is soldered in.

I designed a type N mounting stud but to get a machine shop to make them on a small scale makes it cost prohibitive.

Back when I was making good money I would not have let anything stop me from having a couple type N mounting studs custom made for me but now at the moment with my divorce and custody legal expenses it's totally out of my budget to have something like that custom made.

It would be easy to remove the so-239 from the back of your rig and replace it with one of these

That's a real 50 ohm connector and it is watertight

    Ougigoug Thanks this.

If the radio is getting water on it, you've got bigger issues.

    Ougigoug and rabbiporkchop Thank this.

The type N connector is definitely the way to go for outside the truck. You don't need to worry about rain water getting down inside the cable

I thought that, until this truck right off the lot was leaking rain water from the marker lights past the radio onto the dash.

    rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

It reminds me of a Kenworth W900 I used to drive that every time I slammed the door the windshield would pop out. I kept having to remind myself to roll the window down before I close the door otherwise the air pressure from closing the door would push the windshield right out
