I know, I know ANOTHER DUI thread (sorry)
NO DUI convictions but 2 alcohol-related suspensions.
Arrested for DUI 1997....blew .12, limit was .08, recently changed from .10....received court supervision and case was dismissed. Now expunged.
HOWEVER resulting license suspension on driving record cannot be removed
Arrested for DUI March 2014, case dropped / dismissed and subsequently expunged.
However, I refused to blow so received automatic 6 month suspension which can't be removed from driving record.
So I'm wondering if pursuing a CDL is worth it at this point? also the significance (if any) of NO actual DUI criminal convictions
Thanks in advance
No DUI convictions but 2 suspensions...am I eligible?

The 97 incident has probably passed the age of even mattering. The 2014 incident, if expunged, probably wont be available to them. Curious though, if it wasnt on your record as a conviction, how did you get it expunged? or was it just the arrest record you got expunged?
In answer to you question about pursuing a CDL career, I will tell you this, if you get a conviction for DUI After you get your CDL, it may be a short career? So really you should take a hard look at yourself and decide whether you are ready to take that gamble or not? DUI's arent tolerated too well in the trucking business. Trucking and Insurance have really buckled down on drivers over the past several years- even a 15 over speeding ticket is a major concern in the industry now and could shut you down for 3 years. Ultimately, it has to be your decision. Good Luck. -
Sounds to me like you need Yellow Cab and Uber on your mobile speed dial list

The one in 97 is not that big of a deal. The one in 2014 will really hurt you with most companies. If I were you I would apply with a few companies that offer training just to get an idea of what you are up against. If one of them accepts you great if not then you will know why and you can go from there. Good luck in whatever you decide.ntb911 Thanks this. -
Get some prehire letters from companies before spending money on cdl school. Most cdl schools will require at least one prehire letter for anyone having something serious in their background.
Where is your location, so we know the hiring area you live in.
Here's one company that might give you a prehire, and there's others depending on your location.
Carolina Cargo; try this company.ntb911 Thanks this. -

1997 was deserved. 2014 was a fluke but it happened. Bottom line, I put the keys in the ignition but there were unusual circumstances. Illegally served something homemade in a public establishment and had bartenders working there ready to testify on my behalf. What I thought I'd drank was not matching up with what I'd actually drank. Prosecutor had never seen anything like it and dropped the case. Anyone who knows me knows I rarely drink but I understand the tendency to rush to judgement on the internet.

@Chinatown said to try Carolina Cargo. That says a lot about his feelings as to your employability in trucking. Check them out only as a last resort. They do serve a purpose as a last chance carrier for people who need that, but their wages amount to slave labor. Check EVERYWHERE ELSE first. I've heard PAM will look at people on a case-by-case basis and have hired drivers with somewhat recent actual DUIs.
