I bought a hand priming pump for mine and it is still a ####### to get running again unless I fill the secondary filter with fuel. I hate doing that... injectors are expensive.

Bleeder bolt is 7/8 it's right next to the primer pump pointing straight at you. A socket and a 12" extension works better than a wrench. It's easy to get the wrench on but puts the hide on the back of your hand close to lots of pointy/pokey things.

I have opened the bleeder and pumped it until fuel comes bubbling out... then pumped it some more... and more... and more.

It is a two hour ordeal to get it running again unless I just fill the filter first.

Crack that bleeder open, prime it until the air is out, close it up, start her up.

Primer could be sucking air, seals can go bad in there.

Ok... now I have turned the bleeder open and primed it. It pumps for a few seconds then gets so much resistance on it that I can't even push it down. So I thought maybe I was doing it wrong. No start.

Then I found that if I loosened the allen screw just above it, the resistance went away and it would eventually pump fuel with no bubbles out that screw. Still no start.

Someone also mentioned a check valve on the back of the head. Seriously, I don't even know how you'd get to that without chopping a hole in the firewall. Freightliner, in their infinite wisdom, didn't put a removable doghouse on this thing.

Primer is brand new. In fact it is the second brand new primer. The first one I got was too long and I had to get the shorter version.

You have to prime the fuel lines where they enter and exit the head.
Follow the supply from the filter to the head. Loosen the fitting and hand pump till full fuel flow.
Do the same at the back.
    It's a five minute job.

you're getting resistance pumping with the bleeder open? Are you sure it's open all the way? It has to come out fairly far to release air and fuel.
If it's still not starting you still have air. Double/triple check everything you had apart.

    lilillill Thanks this.

The resistance is usual when nothing is open and pressure is built up you can't push in the pump.

I did a bit of a photo job of your picture. I've circled the two lines I was talking about on my previous post. Follow those lines and prime them where they enter the head. 2016-06-11 09.05.24.png 2016-06-11 09.05.24.png
