Need help bad! Failed my company road test, trouble getting hired

OK Agro.... Sounds like you may have done OK through your training, but you still have some things to learn. First off, you need to develop a different driving style when you are behind the wheel of a CMV. You have to think about what you are doing, particulary around intersections!
When you do take your next road test, remember that the instructor is aware of EVERYTHING that you do. They will know exactly how fast you are going, what gear you are in, and whether or not you will be able to navigate safely around the corner when you get to an intersection.
As for what you should do next, I suggest that you keep calling around. You have a valid CDL, and you have been through training. In theory, you should know how to drive a truck. Just keep in mind that you will be required to take a road test at any company you apply for, as this is a federal requirment for new employees. Maybe you should rent a tractor (bobt) for a day and get some more practice before you try and take the next road test.

THGhost: I'm puzzled where did you learn a CMV cannot turn right on a red. Some companies prohibit that, but I have never heard of that being a legal issue. Before I was a Driver, I worked in Law Enforcement and never in my training in either LE or Driving have I been told a CMV cannot legally turn right on a red. You must stop first, check for and yield to traffic and then you may proceed when it's safe, just like a car. Certainly I could be misinformed and if you know something I don't, by all means please share your source.

This sounds weird to me, like there is more to the story. I'm starting with Werner, and what I hear is if you don't pass the first time, they just put you out with a trainer again for some more time, not just send you home like that.

Also this is one reason why the company school isn't as good an idea, they tend to hold your certificate hostage until you pay it off, saying you have to go through them for job placement or they won't release the certificate.

 

If the company sends you home,the contract is null and void.
If new employer asks about a contract,say no,there is no contract.
If you absolutely need a job,call cre,and do a year,and move on.
Cre will take anyone,you'll be on the road in two weeks.

 

Just go to another companies training you'd have to go through 4 weeks with trainer but atleast it's something usually if you fail with one instructor a safety person goes out to be sure your really not safe so you would've had to fail twice

 

With C.R. England that "road" you're on in "two weeks" could also be the road home where you'll arrive belly-up or the one way road to ruination.

When one is desperate and thinkin' things can't possibly get any worse, CRE will show you the way to git-er-dun.

I'd think long and hard before I'd even consider the Sons-0-Chester.
They'll show you how to "be your own boss" and have a million bucks in your bank account after one year.
It's real easy.
Just start out the year with a bank account containing two million bucks.

I don't know how long you will be allowed to hold on to that CDL while residing in New Jersey.

If you are staying in New Jersey, you are going to have to surrender your Texas CDL A and get a Jersey one.

The 6000 is gone, pay it. It's a form of indentured servitiude I do not agree with. New hires should not have to be made to sign a contract or promissory note to pay that kind of money to the school through a company that will not retain you for employment.

Your cert? Forget it. Your CDL A is your successful completion of school. You failed a road test. Move on. There are others who will hire you after a while. Road tests are not that difficult. Take someone down the road and then come back.

Im not sure about anything else because the whole thing is a mess.
