I have no idea where they are made.
Mark said it's one step up from being a dud.
If he can't make it sound good then nobody can. -
Probably from china but like anything else china is capable of the worst and some of the better too.
I don't mind paying 50$ for the sra if it is well built but 20$ for some cheap one at truck stop no thx.
My 955 is more than likely from china too but if the design is good why not, but i wouldn't spend half the dough of my 955 on some unknown radio to try to achieve the same result.
Same as Red Wing boots some models are made in the US and the design is just bad and the boots simply doesn't last.darthanubis and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
Ok, I'll bite. I've got 3 of the original Telex Road King 56 mics. Used them for years. They are a fine mic. Sound awesome. Then, a couple years ago, I got a SRA-198. I think it sounds just as good if not better with my voice. Everyone's voice is different, and different mics respond differently to different voices. I use the SRA-198 now, mainly because I like the feel of it better, and I can push the PTT button with my fingers instead of my thumb. My thumb would occasionally slip off the button on the Road Kings, especially on rough lease roads, where we spend a lot of time.
I'm not just going by what others tell me. I've made recordings of my radio with different mics, and I know what I hear. Regardless of what some meter tells me. The Ranger is a good mic.darthanubis, mslashbar and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
Here's a hypothetical question. Do you have a nice stereo system in your car? How much money did you spend on your speakers? What country are those speakers made in? What country is the head unit made in? Most people spend more money on their speakers than they do on the head unit. Microphones are no exception. Totally the same concept

I sure miss driving down those bumpy lease roads. Hopefully my divorce is finalized maybe I can get back to work and make some real money.
ShooterK2 Thanks this. -
Hope it all works out soon for ya.91B20H8 and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
I'd give anything to be throwing on a set of tire chains on on a muddy Lease Road right about now as opposed to this
ShooterK2 Thanks this. -
In regards to microphones the question has to be ask – Are looking for fidelity or communication ability?
I find it odd that two way communication all have tailored frequency response . Liston to up/down links from the space station sometime.
