Your full of crap company monkey. You have half a dozen posts quoting federal regs. Pulling the key out of the ignition when coupling is a federal reg?

I realize your thoughts were not intended towards me or any driver. Never took offense. Just a interesting topic and one I think about a lot. I strongly disagree but that's what makes it interesting I suppose.

I'm near a million mile driver. I never before realized all this time, even being a certified trainer, I was just getting lucky.
When they showed that film ( The star is Brian, I will never forget this ), it takes Brian 20 minutes to couple that trailer. Brian is the man. Checks to make sure his 5th wheel is still attached to the truck !!!!!!!!
He's in & out of that truck like 6 times? Just wow.
I D&H in 12 minutes, that's from the moment my tires hit the lot, to I'm filling out " The P/U loaded trailer form."
Some dude in orientation saying its required to show 7 minutes for a post trip. No its not. Never has been.

So you don't believe the driver who says it requires 7 minutes for a post trip, but you believe the one that tells you that you have to come in every 90 days for a skills test?

So let me get this straight. You hit the front gate, and 12 minutes later you are pulling out with your pick up?

I never said all SNI standards were federally mandated, just that SNI believes that ongoing training and evaluations are mandated.

I'm glad you'very been a safe driver. It's something to be proud of.

SNI has policies because we have had incidents that have resulted in sever penalties. How many high hooks and dropped trailers does SNI have a year? How much do we spend on slow maneuvering accidents? How much does each failed u-turn cost the company? I'm asking rhetorically as I don't have specific answers. If an annual road test can reduce the above types of accidents by 1% I believe they are worth it.

From a legal standpoint if a company has a policy and takes no steps to ensure its employees and contractors follow that policy then their liabilities increase.

I don't mind you telling me I'm full of crap. That's your prerogative. I do object to you calling me a monkey. We can disagree civily.

No the guy teaching the orientation says it is required to use 7 minutes to do a post trip. Probably 12 minutes 30 seconds from the time I hit the gate, we have no gate though, 12 minutes from when my tires hit the lot where I drop, until I'm back over to the staging area where the loaded trailers are, until i'm hooked, and filling out " the loaded trailer form, yes.
And why do you have to confirm your arrival time, I mean you hit arrived, then you have to do it again to confirm it, but you don't have to confirm that you depart? I guess when you say you've departed they you, but wants to make absolutely certain that you are aware that you have arrived.

So, you don't believe an instructor, but you believe what drivers tell you, got it.

And if you are dropping and hooking, and doing proper post and pre trips, you can't do it in 12 minutes. Note the word proper....it's the key.

And, fyi, having the ability to confirm what time you arrived is actually a benefit to the driver....you have been driving since 05 and obviously have a lot of knowledge so I will let you figure out why that is.
