A former driver told me this week that Home Depot, Lowe's and Menards hire drivers right out of school, pay by the hour ($10-$12) and get them home every day.

Is there any truth to that? And where does one go to apply for a job?

I would imagine if you talked to a manager at one of the stores they could point you in the right direction.
I know around here a lot of Menards stuff is pulled out of their dist center in Eau Claire, (corporate headquarters) by contractors..

Getting paid by the hour would be a good thing if you work for them. They take forever to load and forever and a day to unload. There are distribution centers all over the country and a lot of them are begging for trucks because nobody wants their loads. But,besides the crappy loads and the weird hours they sometimes want them delivered, they are usually decent people to work with and you might get preferential treatment if you work directly for them.

I drove for Lowe's for a short while 12 bucks an hour home everynight but they didn't care about DOT regs or HOS had to b**** to get tires replaced when they were worn out but to be home everynight it wasn't too bad just missed driving a real truck instead of a straight truck didn't mind the flat beds though

i too worked for Lowe's....lousy hourly pay, lousy trucks, always breaking down. never could see a 40 hour work week though, and the benefits stink...

but yet, Lowes, Home Depot ( i do not know about Menards) WILL SPEND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS a year on NASCAR sponsorship...!!

I worked for Lowe's for a very brief period after the guy I ran containers for was arrested. Notice the emphasis on the word very, and how it's placed right before the word "brief". There's a reason for that.

When I worked for WestSide Transport we did alot of trailer swapping at Lowe's. I'm not sure if they have the contract still. Seems like I did the same stores in the midwest. We also did alot of Menards Eau Claire drop/hooks. Crappy company though. $10-12/hr in MI??
