For us who do not have the funds available to buy our own trailer and authority and have to drive for .90 plus FSC. Would 1600.00 per month for the truck be too much to make it work? Insurance not included, but you get them point.

Well the place I'm thinking of leasing on to dosen't charge for trailer rental, and I was quoted like 275.00 +/- for all insurance per month through OOIDA. The truck comes with a 2 year/200,000 warranty and new drives. The loan is for 36 months.

Dont go through OOIDA, they have the most expensive everything, google some truck insurance agencys and get some quotes, you will need bobtail and physical damage. What permits are you talking about? The company provides that.

You can make it if you have no family and plan to run hard, but you still wont net more than a company driver. Basically you will just have your own truck which one day will be paid for, but as far as making money i doubt it will be there.

    2 things...

    1) My company pays $1.125 per all miles + FSC all miles + accessorial pay.

I'm not sure I can afford to quit being a company guy so I'm real sure you are getting screwed to the wall with your deal.

    2) If you accept that you won't make more than as a company driver???? why in gods green earth would you chance owning the truck that could bankrupt you??? This for the same money????

Start saving right now so you'll have funds available for some point in the future when buying your own truck will actually earn you more money than doing what you are already doing with out headaches.

owner operators don't exactly get "paid vacations" unless you count moving it from the right pocket to the left as being paid... hehehe

You guys must make a ton of money, because with conservative math I come up with at only 2500 miles per week, after all is said and done, I'd be left with a little over 1200.00. Give myself 500.00 and put the rest in the account for taxes and repairs. I don't need alot of money to survive. I'm single, no kids, rent is only 400.00 per month including utilities, and car payment is 450.00.
