I appreciate the info, and anything will be fine with me. I'm working every weekend as it is, and what makes it easy is the good woman I have at home holding down the fort. I'll just concentrate on the things I can control, and I'm sure the rest will fall into place nicely. Thank you again for your answers to my questions and others.

You're welcome. I think you'll like it here. A bad schedule is not likely to be an issue for anyone. You have many choices and can bid for a different choice (or bid to keep what you have) every six months.

When I first hired on I bid for a Saturday out. (easy to get) Thurs and Fri were my days off. If I wanted a weekend off I would burn a couple of banked paid days off to get Sat and Sun off. Burn two days to get a 4 day weekend. It will be a while before you will be able to get a Sun, Mon, or Tue out in most places.

Getting nervous! I have my pre-trip and road test at 6836 next Monday!!

Will not have been in a truck for almost 3 months, and haven't driven a manual in over 2 years, by the time I test.

I was told that there aren't really any "gotchas" and that the folks at the DC want you to do well. Not sure if that's true or not, but I'm still quite nervous. Like everyone else, there's a lot riding on this one pre-trip and road test! So, I'm getting more nervous by the day!

Thanks for all of the info you guys have posted on this thread. I really appreciate you taking the time to try and help guys like me out!

Good luck, I'm in the same boat. Haven't got my date yet, but they'll be calling this week to schedule it. It's on my mind all day long.

    Good luck with your testing.

Don't be afraid to ask questions. I would come right out and ask if they wanted the full blown 30 minute verbal call out (official DMV) pre-trip, or a more typical one. Nobody can tell you exactly what the tester will be looking for. It can vary from person to person. Mine didn't want the full blown version. They just wanted to see me do a typical pre-trip and from that they would determine whether or not I was right for them.

You are not being looked at as someone fresh out of truck driving school. You wouldn't even be here if you didn't have years of experience.

I hate it when that happens. I got my hood ripped off at Little America. Just when I thought it was over the guy punched it and tried to make a get away. I guess he just figured he would run the whole #### truck over. He drug his trailer tires across my front steer lug bolts and blew his tires out. Destroyed his outer wheels too. Turned out to be a rookie with a trainer in the jump seat.

Had that happen to me about 3AM one night. US Express guy drug his trailer across my front fender.

Had to jump out of the bunk and chase the guy down. Of course he acted as if he didn't know he had hit me!
