What ltl carriers have "split" boards and which have one single...or does it depend on the barn? I have a family so I would like to find a place I can rack Seniority up on the p and d side, then after several years snag me up a daytime linehaul run. I have a wife and 2 kids so running nights and missing my kids grow up doesn't seem that appealing. Thanks fellas!

R+L is one such company.
One thing to keep in mind though. Not every terminal has daytime linehaul runs. If you're in an end-of-line area like Miami, forget it.Milkman719 Thanks this. -
Union companies are like this. Guy can bid on janitor then jump out in the truck and bump everyone.
-
You have to be careful though. By us you can jump to another division and keep your company senority, but you go to the bottom of the new division.

In other words, seniority built up for p & d means nothing on the line haul side?
Most companies getting close to the top is what? 3, 5, 10 years? -
Day time line hauls?
.... Not alot of that going on at any ltl outfit -
Ya, I agree. When I worked at Conway Freight they had about 6 drivers out of the Gary, Indiana yard that would run daytime Linehaul pulling triples. But they had 15-20 years in seniority

Talked to and old d working p and d and he said he was filling in today but usually does daytime linehaul. I believe him because I had to help him slide his tandems as he had never done it lol. But he seemed to be in his late 20s or early 30s. I realize this is Chicago tho. I'm going to be looking at Kansas city, mo or springfield, mo.

Well, it depends on the company. FedEx is like you describe but R+L isn't, for example.
Usually 3 to 5 years.sherlock510 Thanks this. -
A lot of those can be found in the midwest, where they can send a load of long haul freight out in the morning that arrived overnight.
