My hats off to you guys who drive up there. Every time I get a load with a final destination of MA, etc., they let me drop in Carlisle so a professional can take it the rest of the way.

    John Dewart Thanks this.

When I took my driving test in Iowa, I told them I was from New England and I had a little by of road rage, they were absolutely appalled at the sentences of cuss words they didn't even knew exist. I like driving up here. Speed limits 55? Nope everyone says it's 80 lol

What's this "giving notice" thing that you speak of?

I have been in the workforce for about 45 years now and I have never once given notice to a company, unless you consider "F*** YOU, I QUIT" to be notice.

Never seemed to have a problem finding the next job either. An interviewer once asked me why I quit the previous job without notice. I told her that my previous employers were asinine jerks that didn't deserve the courtesy of a formal resignation. She laughed and about two minutes later asked me when I could start.

Hell, I quit working for my dad two or three times. I never even told him. Just stopped showing up for work and when he called to ask why, I told him he was a PITA to work for, and if he didn't believe me, he could just ask Mom.

Mom quit a few times too. I think my Dad was one of the greatest people in the history of the Universe, but he was a true PITA to work for sometimes.

Giving notice is when you are more than a cog in the machine. I always gave notice when I held positions in sales or management. One time I gave two weeks notice and they gave me a bonus to stay four weeks to complete an automation project and train the customer service team how to use the cost estimating program. That was in spite of the fact I was leaving for a direct competitor.

As a company driver no notice is required. I let my driver manager at Swift know I was quitting on the day I cleaned out the truck and left on good terms. Started work at my current job the next day. My final paycheck from Swift included unused vacation time.
