Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

I am in Richmond visiting my brother this weekend. Carl just so happens to be at the yard and is doing his reset! Yay, he gets to hang out with us this weekend.

 

That is AWEDOME!!!

 

For me it was more embarrassment. I was in the right lane and slowed to a crawl (with all the traffic behind me not real happy) and as I was "sizing up the situation" I saw a truck in the center lane coming full bore in my mirror. I thought dude you better back it down!! I expected to witness a bad one. When he sailed right under with about 10" to spare all the blood ran right my head and I felt like an idiot! Whoops! LOL

Sending prayers and best wishes to all those dealing with the flooding in West Virginia. It's cost some lives including a 10 year old boy. Seems we've had more than our share between that, the floods in Texas and fires out West.

Traffic behind you saying "another out of town trucker"... In a raised level of volume and a few flowery words tossed in for good measure.

 

Don't you get tired of all those darn short hauls??? ... At least there are two drops on it, that extra $25 will help soothe the pain.

 

For sure. There are times when having traffic 53' behind you and not being able to see them in your mirrors is a distinct advantage!

My first trip to BH Brooklyn ended with two AMX trucks side by side down a closed road, there was room for cars to take a left and go around but with a 53'... Nope.

We ended up taking both lanes side by side and backing up the last block and then blocking traffic through an intersection as we backed across it too....

Surprisingly everyone, except two, was actually fairly nice and patient about the whole thing.

Not one horn honked.

 

Well, truck needs an oil pan. Could be tomorrow, could be Monday. Hanging out at the La Quinta to wait and see what happens.

It's pretty amazing some of the spots we can find ourselves in out there. I have a bunch of such stories in that thread I ran. I was also amazed at some of the places I could get that little truck into. Had I not done it myself and someone bet me it could be done, I'd have lost that bet a lot.
