They try to get you by the house on Christmas, usually a drive by with a load, so it's a crapshoot how much time you get to stay. Might just be a 10 hour break or it could be a couple of days.
But then you wouldn't want to take a load to Maine that delivers on the 24th and expect to be home the next day.
Thanksgiving and the rest of the holidays, you'll have to use a vacation.
Crete has a way of keeping you away from home until you're due home time.
No matter where you live, they'll keep you away from there.

A lot of the companies that I thought would hire me, won't. Mostly due to where I live and the fact that I've been local for the last 4 years. Here's the thing that I don't get - driving local in New Orleans and Baton Rouge is 100x's tougher than bumping warehouse docks OTR. Yet they discredit my experience and want to send me back into training as a rookie.

Crete wants to give me max pay from the start. I respect that.

Go with Crete. You'll rarely go West. If you don't do well with your dispatcher ask Brent Brown for another one. Forced Dispatch. When I left they had cameras in a small % of trucks. Less than 10%. No diesel apus. Some other Mickey Mouse cooling system.

I recognize your position regarding the quality of experience.

I think maybe it's for the best we are not further subdivided into a label regarding the experience we have other than how many months or years in the industry. There used to be a place on the application where you listed what states you drive in, and in particular what food markets have you been in, new drivers with zero experience get lost sometimes in these large complexes downtown such as Boston and sometimes into trouble that will probably cost a bunch of money.

That's so they can pay you less, work the forum and hold out for a company who will value your experience

I also have a prehire with Abilene - it's hard to pick between the companies because every Crete and Abilene driver I've met has been really happy with their jobs.

I'd choose Abilene. Better 68 mph than 62 mph.
