I complain all of the time as well. I've been trying to find the sweet spot in the business. The area where you have the most freedom and earn the most money with a minimum of interference. If I live long enough I hope to find that spot.

I'm just amazed that anyone thinks .33 cpm is "good" out of trucking school. Those are crap rates unless you have something horrific out of your past. 36 should be a bare minimum with drastic increases after a few months.

I'm glad you're seeing 1k+ checks pre-tax, per week. What I'm telling you is that 1k is CRAP money for OTR. It's not HORRIBLE as a starter, but it isn't good. 1300 a week, after 16 months, I think is a BAD week.

    That's 2700 miles.

1350 is average, 1500 is good, 2000 is AWESOME.

I don't work for the "best" company out there. But I would never EVER stay for $1k per week. You only work (if you take one day per week out off) about 10 months per year.

At 1k per week, that's about $40-44k per year max. For 100 hour weeks. For living in a truck. If that's "good" money to you, your standards are very low indeed, and mine are already pretty low.

With over 20 yrs. experience I made .36 cpm but with accessorial pays it added up to $65K per year. Many college grads would love to make a grand a week or more.

Many college grads are also STUPID. -Just sayin'. Having spent 7 years in college in the humanities (I was supposed to be a preacher) I can tell you that most "college-level" disciplines could be taught in one year. The ones that CAN'T be taught in one year are the ones that pay a lot more than 1.5k per week.

And most of them that CAN be taught in a year, can be done by anyone with a library card and an IQ over 110 with a few months on their hands. It's NICE to have great profs, but it's far from required.
